Okay.......last time i am going to annoy people by asking this(not really).
When i create mods i never seem to be able to go past 184 units.I can always add 1 new unit but if i wish to add a second i need to remove a pre-existing unit to do this.no matter what i do i always get the same message of "too few values found in element data".It always refers me to the line on which the last successfully added unit existed(which worked perfectly as i load after every change). It refers me to the column were its' build cost is entered. But the cost is actually the cost of the next added unit, which is the one the game refuses to load after.
Please please please will someone tell me what i am doing wrong.I know that the limit is 256 units but i can only add 1 extra unit to the existing game.Thereafter i need to remove old units to introduce new ones.

I had the same problem a long time ago and found out a way to "fix" it.

I copied all the data of one unit and pasted it below the last one in the unitprod file and then started deleting all that data, except the tabs. I then proceeded to copy that data-free-only-tabs line several times more below the original. I was then able to copy the data of an existing unit over the "new" lines and it worked.

I hope this codeline works:
" "

Just copy everything in this seemingsly empty codeline (filled with the right amount of tabs) and paste it below the last unit data-entry line in your unitprodfile. Before pasting you could use enter first before copying the line (below the last unit data-entry line ofcourse ~:)), just to make it a clean line.

At least if this is the cause of your problem. I hope I could have helped you.

Edit: Alright the codeline didn't work, maybe a bug in the board or it just won't allow the things the previous board did. Now just try to copy the empty bit between the two "'s. You'll need to quote me to be able to copy it though, the board just doesn't want to accept these empty lines, GAH!

Thanks for the reply DnC.I take it you did this in the crus txt file and not in Gnome Editor?I will try it later at home(at work now).I'll let you know how i got on tomorrow.Anybody with any other or similar ideas just throw them out there because at this stage i'm willing to give anything a shot before i give up and pour orange juice into the floppy drive. ~:(

Yep I did this in the unitprod file itself without using Gnome-Editor.

~:) I had this problem many times when I first added new units and did'nt use Gnome editor. The error message your getting is most common, if you've made an error in tab's and spacing's, in the unit prod. So my first questions is Did you use Gnome editor. The game does also seems to need at least one blank line at the bottom of the unit prod.

Hi Nomad and thanks for your reply.I always use the Gnome Editor when editing the files. What is really annoying me is that i can effortlessly add 1 extra unit onto the unit prod but that i can NEVER add a second.I can even delete a unit out of another slot and transferr the non working unit into the same slot and it immediately will load no problem.I'm really bloody annoyed about it. ~:pissed:
Any thoughts you have on the situation would be welcome as none of the mods(no offence to them-they are busy) have ever answered this thread although i have posted it several times in one form or another.Just frustrated at this point. ~

Have you tried my solution yet? And if you didn't get it to work, could you send me the unitprod file and let me try it? You have to give me the right names of the first two units you would like to add so that I can send it back and let you check it out if it works.

I'll PM you my e-mail address (don't want to put my e-mail here incase a bot that searches for e-mails finds mine and thus giving me even more spam).

PS. My problem wasn't with any tabs or spaces, I'm positive about that. So I think there's another "problem" with the unitprod file aswell.

Have you already sent it or forgotten/not been able to?
Posting this just incase you've send it and you have been waiting for me to send it back, but I hadn't received it in my mailbox for some reason.
