What does EA have to lose by nixing the Shoggy server?
Nothing. We already hate them, they cant make us hate them anymore than we already do. They have our money; Shoggy is in the bargain bin now--its the retailer's loss, not EA's. They have nothing to lose from killing the server.
What does EA have to gain?
Plenty. Activision is one of their major industry competitors--they fight for market share in the video game industry. If EA can reduce the impact of MTW, then they reduce their loss of market share when the game comes out. Best way to do that is to order Shoggy server to commit sepuku...then less sophisticated players will think MTW is a crap game and wont even buy it. Or newbies who have bought MTW if they knew how cool online play was, wont buy it.
Either way, this bullshit is a win/win situation for EA. I just think that it is the lowest form of customer support imaginable.
Screw EA with a dirty spork.
