We're taking off at 5:00 AM GMT tomorrow for Rize (mom's hometown) via Trabzon (Trebizond ~;)). I'm planning to stay until October. May or may not check in through an internet café. Take care of yourselves and the place meanwhile!

Bon Voyage, m8. Come back with stories of your travels (we love stories). Pics, too, if you have the time.

Pics need development and scanning in (I'm a dinos...ehm...analogue photographer). Stories? Not much interesting stuff but well, still there are some. ;)

did you know that Trebizond was one of the last vestiges of the Roman Empire it even outlasted the fall of constantinople the Turks didnt do away with it for some decades after the fall of Constantinople it survived through Alliances and the vangarian guard for some time until the Turks finally did away with them so mabye your mom has a little Roman blood in her

Yep. Trebizond and the surrounding (incl. Rize) was conquered in 1461. It's pretty much possible that I have a couple drops of Roman blood albeit pretty indirectly.
