RTW Conquer Cities not provinces ???

i've read some where that the control of land in RTW will be governed by wich cities you control and not provinces. How will this tranlslate when collecting income from farm land and mines from surounding countryside ???? Or have I just read things wrong.

As far as I ca tell your city has an area of influence, marked on the map as your politcal border (where it;s a border)

YOur famrland and other things are within this border, trade routs are marked and can be directly blockaded with enemy armies, and if the enemy army parks inside your cities influence it will be sieging that city.

In some of the screen shots, Each govener has an infulence value, I imagine the higher this is, the more land he will hold, as people will trust him, go to him you know. like that.
