Be sure to give us your system specs and tell us how smooth it is at different resolutions. That is information that we ain't gonna get from CAS, IGN, Gamespy, etc.

Just played it. It comes with the battle of some river that starts with a t (Tribenia or somthing) and you play as hannibal. I found the controlls a bit lacking, and you need to get used to them but overall i thought it was ok. From what I saw of Decisive battoles the Graphics have to be better than what comes with the demo.

Also, I think that it runs smoothly on my decent computer (Del 4800, over a year old, pretty good specs, i don't know the exact specs though) I have only tried it on the default settings but I;ll try the rest out later. It looks promising to be honest. Though the Graphics set on default are pretty bad, and I gotta find a way to zoom (I am using a really old mouse so). The main problem I found was controlls.
First off the it's harder to move the camera around (you can't move and turn at the same time) and when you click on a unit, it begins to zoom in on the unit. Also, you have to use the right mouse button to give battlefeild commands (move, attack, etc.)

TCon88, from the looks in the new short movies at IGN, it looks like they are.
Now I don't know if those romans that got trampled upon by the elephants were just "wounded" or killed, but they kinda devastated the unit they passed through. Killed/wounded somewhere between a third and a half of that unit, and that was simply by walking stragith through it, not trampling around or making comebacks.
And I think there were only 8 elephants or so in that one...

In the demo you have 21 war elephants and 21 Armoured war elephants at the Trebia battle. I would really like to have seen the iberian infantry though :saint:

Edit: ah and suddenly I understand some unmentionable screenshots I saw where the basic elephants where 1/3 size compared to the others. Only one man on the basic elephants...nice ~:wacko:

They're equally good at what they're doing, and there's no difference in what you need them for (i.e., only to extract the stuff). They're also doing slightly different things, but they're all good.

Well, since they probably authorized the early distriution of the demo as part of a pre-order deal with gamespot, they probably for saw that it would get on the web thru unoffical means. You might also hypothetically notice that many hypothetical people are having lots of hypothetical problems trying to figure out how to hypothetically download the demo using the hypothetical tool(s) needed. One might just decide to wait a few hours more and avoid the headaches. Hypothetically speaking, that is.

Hypothetically, yes, many people are having problems. Hypothetically, though, if one had a bit torrent program installed and knew how to use it, it wouldn't be difficult at all. Hypothetically, for me, it took all of ten seconds to begin the download.

And, supposing those hypothetical people download this using bit torrent, they should, hypothetically, leave the bit torrent program open so as to let others download it faster. Hypothetically, that is.

The .mdf? You need something called Alcohol 120%, at least that's what the site that I got it from says. However, I keep getting error messages when trying to unzip the .zip ~:mecry:

Neway I have the same prob. I get it to that mdf format and am stuck I tried winiso,magiciso and nearly everything else mentioned (Couldnt try Daemon, when I find a link its dead) nothing works. Once I got that I had to register to open this file cause it was to big and the rest I get that error.

I dont want to pay for anything, can anyone get it to normal format and perhaps zip it up in winzip and send it out?

no worries, blodrast. it's prolly a leaked version, being that it seems to be in .iso format, so technically it is an illegal version and we wouldnt want anyone being threatened or sued over a demo version, for god's sake. tis cool, mate. i can wait :)

in fact, i can wait much better now. went out and bought doom 3 and the expansion pack for diablo 2 :)

Uhh, it's not an illegal version seeing as the people who originally got it recieved their copies when they pre-ordered at Gamestop. Sharing freeware, last time I checked, wasn't illegal.

Doesn't CA just love to please it's customers? Providing, of course, it's customers pay a hefty fee for sole hosting rights.

This continuing maltreatment of loyal fans has greatly turned me off buying R:TW.

On a totally unrelated note, I learned alot about bit torrent programs trying to download the demo 10 hours ago. (But the DL stopped halfway through ~:( )
