" The water is like a mirror
and I cannot see the bottom
but I feel ashamed, for
the bottom can see me clearly"

Anyone else heard this poem after a Daimyo dies and has no heirs ? I heard it only once. Usually it's 'when the day is done...' or warriors are not the only ones...' or '... that's at least one point of view' .

Anyone heard others in STW ?

There is a Poems folder in the Total War section of the game and it contains 14 poems.

The one you quoted is number 11. I like number 9;

'As there is no lack of flowers at blossom time so those in defeat will not escape.'

There is a lot of ninja cut-scenes as well. I do not see all of them play either. It might be a problem with the random number generator or the seed that is used.

about that subject, does the ninja never succed in the scene where he attempts to kill a geisha but she has a perfect disguise as a wall ?

Thanks papewaio, I just looked in the folders. There was one ninja scene I never saw, and several poems likewise. I liked the geisha stuff, never got so late in the game to produce them (or be affected by them)

It also seems CA gave up on most their battlefield human voices. There were voices for a wavering enemy, holding ground/castle, too many casualties etc., but I never heard those in gameplay, only taisho/daimyo messages and final routing.

Lots of messenger/adviser/priest etc. wav files too.

The more I think about STW, the more I appreciate it. A true work of art. Never seen a strategy game even closely as good, and I'v played a few. Empire Earth, for example - lots of graphics work and historical research, but boring gameplay, boring units, no place at all for tactics, no thinking required, just harvest-produce-sling at enemy-upgrade-repeat. Same through the genre. Good old Starcraft is still best (except STW) in gameplay, after 4 years ! Hello there, we have brains too !

Happily this site also attracts the intelligent gamer here. That said we do have quite a few teasers and spammers. But some forums really do have more of the intelligent threads then others. OT is not one of these... which is where I hang out because ummm doh! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
