I just downloaded the demo, and played the tutorial and Battle of trebia.
But there were no city assults in the demo. I found this a bit dissapointing
seeming as that was the most impressing thing to me in Rome:total war

I hope it is a bit harder, that seemed ridiculously easy. Aside from that very nice.

Re. no city assaults, I don't think they will put everything in the demo. Leave things out so people buy it.

Gah! It's a "demo". A demo - meant to be easy to entice the lame and feable minded (like many of us). Were peeps given impossible tasks in a demo - whom (beside __________ put name here) would buy the thing? ~:dizzy:

I, personally, rarely test demos. And even rarer listen to the hype. Of course as soon as RTW hits the shelves I will be fighting hard to get my copy from the uncouth hordes. :duel: 'Til then I will listen to those complaining about "THE DEMO". :egypt:

Gah!

Yah, I agree. It is just a demo.

That may be true, but if you are going to put a dificulty scale in, nad the hardest seems somewhat feeble, then it doesn't look good.

I would agree if it was just one difficulty level, but it's not.

Well This is a very lopsided battle historically. Hannibal wiped the floor woth the Romans. For what it's worth sources over in test say that the game is great but that they thought the demo sucked.

When using GAH! (note the caps), you need to speak in third person. ~

Mozilla corrupted my first download. Now waiting for the second attempt (with IE) to finish. If anything wrong happens, I'll smash the computer.

How do you zoom in and out

Use the scroll on the mouse. In case you don't have a scroll, I suppose + and - should work as well. But The Grand Inquisitor gave a worthy option as well ~:joker:

Ahh the demo of RTW is actually alot of fun (ive never played a TW game before). It's totally what i expected from all the reviews n' such. Not sure why people complain about the demo seeming it's already fantabulous! ~ hopefully the multiplayer will be good but im really hanging out for the campaign mode ~:pimp:

The demo is easy, especially if you play it on easy.
How many people have posted in these forums saying "I haven't played it on the hardest difficulty level but I found the demo quite easy".

Oh and yesterday I beat the Romans on the hardest difficulty and didn't even use the elephants. It wasn't "easy", just showed the Romans my light cavalry , they split their spearmen from their main body of infantry leaving my heavy cavalry the pleasurable job of mowing them down. With just spearmen left, although quite a few a flanking manouvre with all of their other troops routed meant they lost their bottle. :knight:

I find it Quite hard to move around the battle map, I think I prefer the MTW
way. ~:(

Well, it took me 6 hours to download, but after playing it, it was totally worth the wait. I have played the Tutorial, and the main battle as the Roman's & Hannibal. playing as Hannibal was truely easy, not only were the Elephants too strong, but it was set up for an easy victory imo.

Playing as the Romans is much harder, but achiveable victory, if you can get those pesky Elephants quick.

Now, after playing it, i feel depressed, as i want it all now!!!!! ~:p

Just played Trebia on hardest, I found it abit easy. I sent my cavelry led by hanibal roud thier back and killed thier general. After that the enemy was in chaos, so I trampled them with my Elefants. The foot soldiers were hardly used. :knight:

I just played as the Gauls during the Tutorial -- and, frankly, it's a much better battle than that of Trebia. It's fast paced -- again, maybe more faced paced than MTW -- but it's much slower than Trebia. There's space for maneuvering, and tactical exercise. Moreover, I got crushed. Try it out -- the mod lets you flip back between an expanded roman force, and the gauls, and easily edit everyone's valor, etc. Answers some of our concerns, I think. Plus, the gaulish voices are much, much better than the carthaginians.

Does anyone prefere MTW to RTW ?

cant even begin to judge this since game is not out. All we have a is a demo that in my opinion is failry good. Do developers ever post on these boards or anywhere else. I would like to now what stage of developement this demo is like a late alpha early beta etc.

:phonecall: Being a 56k user I am trying to find a place I can use my downloadmanager to download it. A 168 MB's are a bit much for me to stay connected. Does anyone know of a site? Don't tell me to get DSL or Cable if they would offer it in Hooterville I would get it. ~:mecry:
