This thread is dedicated for the best score you get on Battle of Trebia so here is what you need to do, you must right these down:
Number of Kills
Number of Casualties
Remaining Men
and post em up here, its simple no? ~:p
Its preferable to have a pic, hosting it on Photobucket or Image shack and linking it here, it just adds more credibility to your claim, If you can't or its too complicated honesty is enough.
EDIT:DON'T FORGET DIFFICULTY MUST BE ON MEDIUM OR HARD NO EASY DIFFICULTY OR I'LL PULL OUT MY EXPLOSIVE CATAPHRACT CAMEL ON YOU!
here is mine(Medium Difficulty):

Faisal;
How are you taking screenshots? FRAPS?
Barkhorn.
Here's mine, I forget the setting, but I haven't played on easy yet so its not that. And take a screenshot by hitting 'Print Screen' then alt-tabbing out and pasting it to something like MS Paint.

Print Screen after quitting the game paste it on paint, or any other paint program like gimp or photoshop, whatever you like. save it as JPEG/JPG and load it up on either image shack or photobucket(you need to register at both) then link your image here.
Aelwyn:your pic is pretty small i can't see it, you wouldn't mind if you got it at 1024x768 and reposting it?

OK thanks - guess I was overthinking it.

doing so right now....used photobucket and it made it smaller, so getting a file converter ~:)
gah, doesn't work for me. sure if you want to ~D
Results were 1413 kills, 71 losses, eventhough the romans killed 73. must have had 2 people healed.

You beat my score, i cannot distinguish the numbers on the small screen, but zooming on it shows the romans kills are in 2 digits, so i can trust you on this!
Aelwyn has beaten my score any challengers?

I had 1348 romans killed and 150 losses.
Man it was some massacre, not one of my units routed in the face of the enemy...
By the way the carthaginian infantry do work better if you put them in a solid line and bring them off the hill (doesn't the phalanx work betetr on flat ground anyway?).

Just finished playing it!!
I wish I had seen this thread before I played ~:rolleyes:
Anyway, on the standard diff (med I guess?) I had over 600 men remaining while the romans had less than 300 running from the field like little girls!
And that was to the first victory screen-not the 'continue on' end.
Pretty good I think for my first outing..

Had over 1500 in a battle earlier, but I forgot to take a screenie of it ~:mecry:
yea i just had 1455, but that was modded. I modded the romans to be tougher, and changed some carthaginian unit sizes. so i suppose that doesn't count. ~:p

just d/l demo and played it on very hard
1438 kills 592 remaining.
elephants are awesome...sacred band cavalry too.
I tried it on medium using mostly the sacred band cavalry. I charged the other horse units and left them alone. I pretty much left the other units alone until it was time for cleaning up.
1413 kills 550 remaining
60-unit Sacred Band - 38 Casualties Sustained - 367 Casualties Inflicted
40-unit Sacred Band 1 - 15 Casualties Sustained - 242 Casulaties Inflicted
40-unit Sacred Band 2 - 22 Casualties Sustained - 221 Casualties Inflicted
Not to mention that 19 out of the 75 casualties sustained healed after the fight. The charge seems a bit ridiculous. I charged some Hastati or Princeps (can't remember which) and some of the Sacred Band actually leaped from behind another Sacred Band and each killed a 1-2 infantry on the way down.
Wohoo, I beat the Carthaginians, even though I vastly outnumbered them and their elephants routed during their first attack! ~:joker:
http://www.mbc.umt.edu/sTemp/mtw/images/demo/roman-victory.jpg
This was on hard setting. I dropped my velites and hastatii back near the river while I took my triarii, principii, and cavalry onto the flanks and wiped out their SBCs and mercenary cavalry. The Carthaginians came down the hill after that, and I left them hammer away at my left flank while my right went up and took the high ground. My triarii held thanks to some flanking work by the principii.
The Carthaginians took up a position on that little hill on the west side of the flatland the Romans occupy at the start. So after organizing with hastatii, principii, triarii, and velites behind everyone I marched straight into them and flanked them on the left.

my best score, it was played on hard
http://martin.go-legion.com/rtwkills.jpg
Just finished a battle before reading this, so i forgot to take a screen.
I played on medium with general's view locked.
I lost 150 out of 800 and killed 1450 out of the total number of the Romans. Numbers are rounded up a bit ( +/-5) since i don't remmember the exact ones.

Best Scores so far:
Carthaginian Side:
"Medium difficulty":
1.Aelwyn: Kills:1413
Losses:71
2.Hundurinn: Kills:1354
Losses: 103
3.Ar7: Kills:1450
Losses:150
"Hard Difficulty"
1.Sasaki Kojiro: Kills:1438
Losses:208
2.Sjakihata: Kills:1444

3.???
So anyone capable of beating these scores so far? Hard and Medium difficulties will have seperate scores from now on, so you can't beat a Hard Score with a medium one and vice versa.
Scores are based on who has the least losses as the first priority and the number of kills as second priority.
If i missed anyone who had a higher score please notify me in this thread.

Hi,
@Faisal - just tried again. Takes about a week to do it, but pic now appears. I think! That was probably happening before but I was too impatient!!
EDIT: Oh dear. Pics don't show. They do show however if I edit my post and check down the 'Topic Review' section. Very strange. Maybe my profile is knackered??
Cheers,

Ha!!
I don't have any statistics for you to laugh at, but the most incredibly stupid thing has just happened.
Firstly, this is the modded version, so the Romans are still across the Trebia, my troops are pretty disorganised (I had moved some elephants to the flanks and Hannibal himself to the rear, but that's all) and I'm on the phone talking to my family... Ten minues, twenty minutes, thirty minutes... Big family, what can I say? ~D
Suddenly a red icon catches my attention: after half an hour, the Romans have tired of waiting for my advance and have come after me! ~:eek: I was still on the phone, and so I abandoned Hannibal and his merry men to their fate.
When I next looked, I had won the battle. ~:dizzy:
Thus demonstrates the subtle intricacies of the AI at its most challenging.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA oh man I've gotta try that. Did you put your men on AI command?
Here it is:
I immediately send all 4 units in the back out to kill the enemy General, Sempronius.
His troops fought worse and routed early, my cavalry already in his back and permanent elephant terror caused lots of casualties.
I could have done better in the end as some Velites stopped routing, I wasted Barbarian Infantry on them, but otherwise everything worked well, as you can see:
I just wonder who counted the losses -> the Romans have 166 kills, but I have only 150 losses. Huh?
http://www.longasc.de/Stuff/TrebiaLong.jpg
Some men heal after the fight. 25% of my cavalry casualties healed after the fight, after already having a 10:1 kill ratio. LOL
On very hard I killed some 1400+ Romans and only lost 97, but I couldn't be bothered to make a screenshot, plus the Romans were hardly challenging in their position.
I played it with that mod where the skirmishers are replaced by Sacred Band Infantry and the intro skipped, so the Romans start out before crossing the river.
Anyways I wanted to try and see if my tactic worked, which was to move my cavalry quickly towards the ford, incase the Romans got across sooner, and have my entire army "camping" infront of the river. Suffice to say the Romans took way to long getting to the ford, and I was able to almost move my army three times from position along the river (estimated the crossingpoint wrongly), but with the last positioning one of my Sacred Band Infantry units decided to march too far and the Roman Hastati nearly were able to exploit that gap! Luckily the Romans got bogged down and I was able to send my War Elephants to their right flank and cause an immense havoc. The Romans started to route fairly quick and I send my War Elephants (not even the toughest of the two) across the river. After a little bit more fighting on the Roman side of the river my War Elephants started to run amock! LOL! Anyways you can possibly imagine what happend. The War Elephants started running through the large compact Roman army and many were slain until the last of the War Elephants was killed.
I didn't realise how much damage my War Elephants had done until I saw the statistics and it showed that my trusty, yet not so trusty (running amock through the right army) Elephants killed some 930 Romans! Apparently I used them quite effectively in that battle!
Ofcourse this one doesn't count. No proof, nor the same scenario as in the unmodded demo.
This is NOT an entry into the contest but rather just to show my best score, so please do NOT include this into the contest.
The best score I had was as Carthage, Medium difficulty:
http://shahed.go-legion.com/rtwpics/rtwbest.jpg
I was playing as Carthage with the Romans starting across the river. This was by far the best battle I played in the demo, lasting about 60 minutes, consisting of skirmishing, minor fights for the middle ground and finally an all out assualt on the Romans which caught them crossing the river, ...chased back across the river, in absolute disarray. I wish I had a replay of it.
I highly recommend the "across the river" mod as this gives much more time to the battle and is far more interesting to play.

Thats on very hard? if it is your # 1, since no one has contributed to very hard yet. Anyone wants to contribute may do so.
I'll probably do an easy ranking too, to see who can get the best on the easiest difficulty.
Contributers to hard very hard contribute now before i update the stats on all 4 difficulties.

Anyone notice that the stat numbers don't add up correctly?
Here is the shot that Orda Kahn posted;
Deployed:
C = 800
R = 1543 - these are consistent
Killed (so look at the oppo numbers if you get my drift):
C = 218
R = 1391
So this should leave the following:
C = 582
R = 152
But the stats show:
C = 543 (missing 39)
R = 355 (over by 203!)
They are all off BTW. This must be a bug - as there does not appear to be a rhyme or reason to these variances.
Here is the shot that Longasc posted;
Deployed:
C = 800
R = 1543 - again, consistent
Killed (so look at the oppo numbers if you get my drift):
C = 166
R = 1195
So this should leave the following:
C = 634
R = 348
But the stats show:
C = 650 (over by 16)
R = 520 (over by 172!)
What gives.

This is on Hard with a mod that spreads the armies out and adds some units, whoever made it went overboard with the valor. But I think it also shows that CA went overboard with the valor aswell. One of my sacred band cav had 197 and 2 losses ~:shock:

Pretty sad, really. This was the hardest difficulty setting, for crying out loud!
A.
Barkhorn1x, I agree - I notice this, too.
The stats show that I lost 150 men, but the Romans killed 166.
Hm... did their Missile Troops kill 16 Romans perhaps, did they got added to the kills?
WELL... it might be a feature, that troops that are "wounded" are restored after battle, would make campaigns easier a bit.
But, according to Occam's Razor, the simpliest explanation is, that
-> RTW is unable to count correctly.
-> We used Photoshop ;)
Can anyone find out HOW this numbers might be "correct" after some weird mathematics including ressurections, ROUTED (perhaps this is the solution?) units and kills by friendly fire?
BTW, I think we should declare the one with the least Carthaginian losses the winner... :) hehe...
