I think it's worth it. Some good battle scenes and a very good Ken Watanabe playing the rebel Daimyo.

Just do not expect it to be really historically correct ~;)

The fights are beautiful as is the acting. The last scenes are great but tremedously emotional

I liked it, but not much historical ness in it. Good enough movie to rent.

Great movie with really nice battle scenes and fantastic Samurai armor. Its sort of a remake though. Its dances with wolves in Japan. ~:joker:

Typical Hollywood, but had some merit. I liked the scenes in the Japanese (New Zealand) village best. I had to buy a DVD because my wife loves Ken Watanabe.

It should have been made without the American hero. It should have featured only Japanese in the major roles. It seems like Hollywood thinks people will only watch a movie if it has a white American hero.

I also hated that the "bad guy" was one-dimensional and might as well have had a black hat and said "Muhahahaha!". He had no redeeming features. Like I said: typical Hollywood.

I have to say it was alot better than I expected it to be. Slow at first, but once the story gets moving, its very interesting. Seeing it made me take STW out of the closet again for the first time in years. A previous poster was right on; its Dances with Wolves in 19th c. Japan.

I too was bored and saw it on OnDemand. Definitely worth the $3.99.

It was good. Although as Maddox pointed out, a) Why is it an American who is the last Samurai? and b) Why is does the star hate his enemy and think he is scum - despite him just doing his job honourably (the whole thing is about honour)...?

Good movie though.
