Two group formations (group formations are the ones like single or double line, only useable when the units are grouped) that would be very useful to have would be solid line and spaced line.

Spaced Line- Have a unit, then a space the size of the unit (or maybe a bit bigger), then another unit, then another space the size of the unit, etc. This would be very useful for anyone trying to recreate the real Roman tactics (checkerboard).

Solid Line- Basically, the units form a continuous line, with no gaps. This would be vital for any army relying on phalanx or spear formations.

Thoughts?

Quote from .com forum:

I discovered that if you group units together in a single line, then press the '+' key next to the backspace key multiple times, your units will meld together into a single long block, with NO GAPS!!!!

And if you tap the '-' key next to the backspace, they will go back into their seperate units.

Thank you! I didn't know about that.

One question. Does it work when you:
a) Have moved them into position, then once they stop, press it until they come together.
b) Have them grouped and are right-click dragging (changing their depth and facing) them, then press it while still holding the button.
or c) Press it while they're moving.
?

You can probably do it:

A and C

All it does is increase/decrease the depth of the formation one line for each press. It's still quicker to drag a line.
