Interesting timing dont you think !!!!! ?
Are we been left in the dark ? Have the latest problems been deliberate to kill us off? (i.e. registration problem / server down)
Peoples thoughts on what will happen to shogun when Medievil is released ?
Will the server still be up ?
etc...........
Lets get it all out in the open....

sad to say but I think MI will be gone for good, or the number online below 10 on weekends. And comparing MI and MTW, I still like the japanese themed TW.
Gotta move on with the times.......
Will take some time though...
Dare i say it if server is down at any time for MTW we can always hop back for a game of MI?

The dojo is independent, so interesting as this conspiracy is, as we have nothing to do with EA/CA/Activisision/Masonic Lodges it doesn't hold water. .com is the official site. We're swapping over because it's likely that MTW is where most of the trafiics going to come from soon. As a consequence we needed a rejig of the organisation of boards here.
STW will still be supported here, regardless of what happens to the online aspect, which is far beyond our control or influence. Server and registration probs have always happened, they 've always been solved in the past, you'll just need patience hopefully, and be thsnkful that it looks as if MTW is running through Gamespy.

They're not ending either, GD is renamed STW, MTW goes to the top of the list. Doesn't sound too terminal to me

I think we need to look at the facts,
1. The registration problem has never occured like this. We have recieved no really information from EA about the problem or when it will be rectified apart from a lmao posting somewhere along the lines a few weeks back. People in the community have found a temporary solution and it has been blocked. If EA actually did give a shit this would have been resolved ages ago, or atleast they would have sort a temporary resolution....well if it meant $$$$$ it would never have happened.
2. At the same time, when this whole issue (registration) becomes really hot, the server goes down....no word as usual....someone resourceful tracks the information to contact the keepers of the server directly to eliminate the EA middle man bullshit, and it gets blocked. I know, I know, we dont want to upset these important people, after all we only purchased their product diddnt we, its not right to actually expect more than what we are given.
3. We have not, to my knowledge (and I hope to be corrected)been given 100% information about exactly what will be happening to the shogun server when medievel is released. If we had been, then people would not be feeling concern about this aspect with the new release.
4. If things are unclear or unsaid then there is usually something to hide.
My original post was not actually directed towards the org specifically, I know that there will always be space for the original shogun community. More rather just observing the sequence of events.
I do believe that Shogun should still be at the top....at least till the release of medievil....after all we cant degrade our roots, it deserves respect.
As for conspiracy.....well...what is one meant to believe...what image does this create...some clarity from above may bring peace and understanding to those in pain.

once, long ago, i owned a board game called shogun. the board was a picture of fuedal japan, and oddly familar to our very own strategic map of total war. the pieces (of which there were many), were also oddly familar to the units of our total war game. they consisted of cav. units, archers, and spearmen. these units you kept on a card off of the gameboard, while on the board you had a piece that looked oddly like an army icon from our (you guessed it) very own total war.
at any rate, to make a long story short, i loved that game. unfortunitly, i could get no-one to play it with me, as it was very complicated, and hard, even for me, to teach others to play. but then, many years later, about twenty to be close to exact, totalwar had come. "YAY!!!!!!!!" i says to myself, and proceeded to get my but kicked by the ai.(hehe) but i became determined, and decided i would master this game (never give up, never surrender). but now, after playing online, and getting the feel for the game that i have come to, tho i hardly consider myself a master, i can at this time, hold my own. now this talk of ending my hopes to master shogun total war?...sigh.... i hope that several of us decide to make sure that we keep alive this community of wanna be shogunites and would be conquerers. here's to hopeing some of you are as addicted to this game as i am.
sincerely

Hello MizuKokami.
You can be assured that if the server is still there for Shogun then so will I. MTW looks good but I have never been convinced it will be better, at least online.
I find the Japanese/Mongol theme has more of an attraction for me, maybe because I practiced Martial Arts or my Buddhist inclination, I don't know.
An old Karate Master, Gishin Funakoshi once said - " The Martial way begins and ends in courtesy."
This whole ethos exists in Shogun Total War, the code of honour. I most definitely do not want to see it disappear.

Hey guys I had to comment here:
I have eyed STW for probably 2 years now but never bought it. The other day I get my ign newsletter that has in it the link to the MTW demo, so I say "what the hey it looks like it could be a fun game with all those units on a battlefield lets try the demo"
Well I loved the demo..LOVED it. So much that I went out and bought STW. I honestly believe that MTW will bring some new blood into the STW genre, not a mass exodus I am sure but like myself it will bring others. I now wish I had picked up the game when I first saw it long ago. Hey better late then never right?
Missed out on a lot of fun! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
I myself have had one of the most colourful histories on this game hehe.

In my opinion Shogun will die.
EA are not supporting us now. So why will they when MTW arrives

Taofrank, I am interested to know what will happen to STW/MI. I love the game and as I already said will carry on playing as long as there is a server. I believe it will only die if we let it.
I also have this feeling that a lot will come back to it after the MTW hysteria dies down.
