How do all those non-combat units get their valor?
I get it that assasins get them for succesful assasinations, but all others puzzle me. Any help would be appreciated as I am playing with English and Byzantines have me mostly cornered and I have to rely on non-coms for help.

P.S. Thanx in advance for your reply. ~

Spies gain valor by successfully intercepting enemy spies and assassins and learning of your enemy’s movements. I have never seen a princess gain valor ~ , and know only that emissaries gain valor for successful missions. Also, all civilians gain valor from upgrading the building that produces them.

I know that for assassins to get heavy valor you need to kill a lot of people. Their valor requirements are doubled at every level (i.e. 1 valor=1 kill, 2 valor=2 kills, 3 valor = 4 kills, etc.) I believe emissaries gain valor for every single mission they've successfully completed. I remember my brother just started bribing every single rebel army once he got powerful enough (half the map was under his control) and he got an emissary up to 9 valor~! I think the same goes for princesses, but since they usually get married off they never get really get the chance to build up valor. As for Bishops and Inquistors, I have no idea.

Assassins can gain more than one valour per kill if their target is sufficiently powerful. Try it, take a valour 0 assassin (or several to be sure) and target them on a valour 2 emissary. Whichever assassin suceeds will have valour 2 now. It's not as simple as 1 kill = 1 valour, etc. Difficulty of target makes a difference.

Bishops at least can get valour by a) successful ceasefire or alliance missions and b) being present in province when it has a religious rebellion of the religion that corresponds to the bishop's religion.

In this thread I made a listing of all the agenst and their functions: Agents (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=568144#post568144). It also contains information about how they gain stars.

Thanks for the list Ludens. ~:) One addition though, I have most definately noticed Bishops gaining stars by being in enemy or neutral provinces when a religious revolt occured.

Added. Question: did anyone actually checked the supposed bishop-cap?

princesses are same as emissaries in diplo agreement gains valor.

the inquisitors are like assasins in generating more on a successful high difficulty kill.

the bishop thing is kinda random and doesn't really matter unless assasins try to kill it in which case it's usually dead anyhow.

they just make for good spies.

I also believe that we agreed at some point that the way spies contribute to loyalty is 40% + 20 * spy_valour... if you agree with that, you can add it to your post, Ludens. I'm sure katank has a much better memory than me, and he can confirm/argue this. ~:)

not really. I'm not much good at remembering agent influence.

It does seem that spy effects no longer stack after VI and only the highest valor spy actually influence loyalty although all spies there collect valor if rival provinces rebels etc.
