I always have the sound turned all the way down for that reason...since I have a volume dial it's easy to adjust if I need to.

you talking about the banner ads down the bottom of the page?
(scroll down)

Those ads have put me off buying not just that particular item but any HP one unless it is truly the number one in its field and the cheapest to boot.

What banner ads?

edit:

interesting, I just included totalwar.org in the field saying, "always show popups for the sites listed below". There I put totalwar.org, and sure enough when I now load the org popups immediately appear.

*runs off to delete the site from the field*

strongly recommends firefox, it will KILL ads

Yes, I have Firefox and haven't seen an ad in ages. And I got the Adblock extension so I just right click and 'adblock' it if I see one. :-)

http://update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=10

I always have to download to desktop, then install that way though. Won't do it automatically... A little bug there. Works great after though.

Yes, it's annoying. It blasted right through the music I was playing on my CD-player.

Some things get mixed up here.
There are two different forms of ADs:
Banner ADs + Popup ADs.
Popup ADs can be blocked with generic Mozilla Firefox. Very good.
What Barocca mentioned though, is a bannner AD playing sound.
Firefox is not blocking this banner. It will be part of the site.
But my version, until now, hasn't played a single sound. I saw some HP ADs but heard no sound.
It's a good Idea to use Firefox, it's the superior browser.
What you can do when using IE, is to look under
Internet-Options/Advanced/Multi Media and toggle "Play Audio in websites" to "off".
Might do the trick.

Apart from that, I hate every site that plays music without asking me.

And all this time I thought it was some dumb hacker that was messing with me blasting rock music on my speakers. So I left the site and disconnected the cable for a while

well, I never see banner ads on the org, so something is blocking them, maybe ad-aware live scan?

Yes firefox is very good, try adaware scan or something, i haven't got an ad like that in ages.
B. can you show me the site so i can see what is goin on, please thanks
