Looks like there is a race on between different developers to get the best modding tools out for the demo.

So far AFAIK we've had:

Hack the rome.exe using a hex editor - only for the masochistic.

Easymod - this was a real quantum leap, and is what all the other mod tools rely on. Battles can be created by editing a text file using notepad. A vast improvement, made even easier when combined with one of the following tools.

MODROME - A character based user interface for editing the battle file. Although this was the first such utility, I think the rather primitive user interface lets it down.

RoDeO - Uses a graphical user interface for editing the battle file. Has the most comprehensive options, so far, and does a very good job. Also seems to have the most support in terms of the number battles that others have created.

BattleEditor - Like RoDeO, also has a graphical user interface, but even slicker - complete with unit icons, which looks very sexy. However, it is still early in development, and is lagging behind RoDeO in the range of options it supports. Also requires Microsoft's .Net framework, but don't let that put you off, as this is a simple download which everyone should install, as more and more applications are using .Net, as it is so cool).

Does anyone know if I have missed any?
