yup....after a nice day of multiplay i came back today to find that it doesnt go father then trying to log on...no-one better be thinking of closing any servers ¬_¬@EA

Someone here received a response from EA during the last downtime which confirmed that they were working on the Shogun servers, and it's not their intent to shut them down. Since they never post about scheduled downtimes, it does make you wonder what's going on.

Just bought a copy of WC3. Nice graphics and modeling and sound.. that's all I can said. The SP mode still the same old resource gathering, building and fight.. just not my cup of tea. Now to my next game.. NWN.

Konnichiwa Kocmoc,

GameSpy is not a gameserver and the $20 is an optional one time fee, in other words: GameSpy is free.

GameSpy offers much more than the shogun servers.

the point is, i buy a game and i wont pay for any increasing play... i thougth EA was/is bad, but with gamespy the prostitute us to pay something, we dont pay enought for the game or what?

i want a gameserver, like now....with a better support...

i thougth we are surprised by a better support and better server and now we get gamespy with some nice lags and some more dropes, WOW..... thats a deal and for this we pay 20$.... ROFL

...btu sure i can play the game i love just offline,.....thats ofcourse a better solution .....

Paying $20 for GameSpy is optional for the premium package. You don't have to pay anything to use GameSpy. I use gameSpy for free.

GameSpy is not a gameserver, nor is the ShogunServer. These servers are just meeting points and matchmakers. The gameserver is the computer from the person who hosts the game. This in contrast to say Unreal Tournament, which also allows dedicated servers (a gameserver).

I've never had drops from GameSpy, unless the game itself is buggy and doesn't properly hand authority down to GameSpy again.

The matchmaking- and meetingpoint server GameSpy has support, just because it doesn't depend on the sales of 1 game.

2nd.
Games that work with gamespy tend to offer direct IP. So you never have to bother about meeting servers again.

I'm sorry that you're having bad experiences with gamespy (no, I'm not in any way allifated with it). I agree that it looks overwhelming complex at first (because 1,000's of games can be played via GameSpy and it offers chatrooms, password protection, buddy list, buddy chat, kick).
GameSpy may not be the perfect solution, it's a much better one than the shogun servers.

i dont care about gamespay or gamemaster or any stupid subsitute, as a multi-playable game shogun should have its own fully working server, that doesnt have so much downtime, every week or so, EA should keep there users more informed i mean, this is the modern day, if this was a factory instead of a game sevrer we'd of had our own union and striked by now....so this is to you EA, yea you the snivly little punk who cant be bothered looknig after servers you made anyway that you should look after for your companys credability.......get off your ass.....AND FIX THE GODAMN SERVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!>: ( *GRRRRRRR*

Loads of guys bombarded EA with emails (again)

They won't shut down the server, they just make our life misserable as usual. At least they know the server is down and they promissed to do their utmost best to get it up asap (ASAP=as soon as possible)

If you own WE/MI, you can play STW on the WE/MI server. Put your WE/MI cd-key in place of the STW cd-key and change the chatserver port from 8793 to 8794 in the internet.cfg file. You also need a valid WE/MI online nickname to login. Don't loose your original STW cd-key as you'll want to be able to go back when the STW server comes back online.

like battlenet, from blizzard it works great and they support the community a lot, they know how to pay back to the consumer...

i love shogun but there are oter games too...
and if tehy dont change something im sure MTW wont live 2 years!

EA is shit, but CA do nothing too!
if they where a good company they had long time ago createt a platform or even an otehr server for us...

so all what i can read is some nice previews and some posts about the one or other thing... the information are rare and the support...hmm..i cant feel any suppport from CA....the only real good thing was that they gove us the chacne to create patch 1,02....

now they bring again a game wich just focus the single players, many other company already understood that the future of gameplay is the online play, seems CA didnt understood it yet....

When I look back and remember the lack of customer support which EA has provided with STW throughout its history, its no wonder that players/customers find other things to do.
Players like Kocmoc who is a prime example of a dedicated STW player if ever there was one.....moving on and doing other things online....its pretty depressing but i can't blame him.

Lack of support is one of the reasons i opened my eyes and found other online games to play.....not the whole reason but a definate factor in my decision.

Way back when I first started playing STW the server situation was exactly the same then, and i was a very vocal critic of EA on the Official STW forums back then. What i quickly learnt was that the didnt give a flying fudge about what the members of the community thought and i was even told to shut up and be greatful that i didnt have to pay to play STW by other community members.

Well roll on Medieval and a new start! Things can only get better can't they? I mean at least EA can't screw it up reguarly anymore right?
