Ok, maybe a bit premature, but i was just wondering at first glance at RTW. what peoples most picked faction will be in RTW, when playing online battles. perosnaly i will start off as as the Romans & then try the Carth's & Britons. These are the factions that i know a little about their armies, would be interesting to see your similar or different ideas. ~

It'll have to be the British, mainly because i am British and i want to beat people who say they are rubbish. Also the idea of throwing heads at people is very appealing... :knight:

I will start out with a Roman faction, most likly Julii, to get a grasp about the game features and kick the other Roman factions ass. That would please me alot. Then I would pick something else. Haven't thought that far yet.

Probably a Roman faction first, to see how the Stone army really feels like. Then Greeks and afterwards maybe the Seulicid Empire.. if I'm not dead by forgetting to eat by then.

Definately the A-rabs. I love camels ~ Hopefully they won't get western looking militia like they did in medieval, though.

I'm not sure the arabs are playable, but I am definately gonna be Parthians. They have cool elephants, cataphracts, cataphract camels (woohoo) and especially eastern horse archers (yes, they can use Parthian Shot)

Infantry are pretty lame, though, but that's not important because of the incredibly good cavalry they posess. I'm pretty sure they have the best elephants, but I think the arabs might have good eles as well. :charge:

The Carths elite troops look unstopable on the demo, especially with their long spears against the short stabbing swords of the Romans. But i guess each faction will have their own elite troops.

So, no one going to play as the Gauls so far ? ~:joker:

Since i think at the begining of the game you have to play a Roman house ~ i will probably play house of Julli, then when i can im definitll going straight for Carthage and Egypt (if it even runs on my comp) ~:mecry:

Julii, the Greek cities, Egypt, Parthia, Britons, Gauls, Germans, Carthaginians. Then after that I'll learn how to MOD the game and play as the Sythians ~;)

I would like to play the Roman factions. It has been my dream since playing Caesar III.

Scipii as the first Roman faction... Julii are up themselves, and the Brutii... they're regicides.

I hate to break it to you fellows (even the ones who can't even write in real, grow'd-up sentances...), but at the start everyone will be forced to play a Roman faction - meaning Brutii, Scipii or Julii. I'll probably be Julii first, because I know a bit about Caear and crushing Vercingetorix and Pompey appeals to me. Plus the Brutii have to deal with a powerful enemy (the Parthians), and the Scipii have Carthage to tangle with. The Julii have the comparatively tame Gauls, Celts and Germanii to battle, so I think they'll make a nice introductory campaign.

That's what I meant. I don't think the arabs as we know them existed in the middle east in this time period.

Not sure which Roman faction I'll go with first time round, but once I've got access to the other factions, I'm looking forward to playing as Carthage. Their units sound like they'll suit my style of play. (i.e. walls of pikes with archers, and then the mass charge of elephants :P)

Britons for the head hurlers because they're going to look good in battle, followed by anybody who can use elephants in battle because I thought it was hilarious when that Roman soldier got a tusk up the bracket in Time Commanders.

The idea was to demoralise the enemy by effectively saying "look what happened to the last lot who messed with us". After they hurled the severed heads, they closed in with their swords.

I came across this unit type in a faction profile here (http://pc.ign.com/articles/527/527507p6.html)
