also be aware that just because YOU cant log on doesnt mean the servers are down. it could just be your connection and routing to the servers that are goofed somehow.

HMMMMM, server always fails on Saturday night or early Sunday morning (EST). Auto maintenance schedule? Is faulure to deliver a viable cause for law suit? Eh, Bachus? lol. Sadistic techs? Gremlins? I mean, if some on-line games can host 6,000 people (MoH) and 1600 games why isn't STW able to. It is because of the weak server that the foyer is not full - it has to be frustrating for anyone that is new to come in to the STW foyer - find out they must download the 102v/103v/+map packs, and then be dropped half the time when they join a 3v3 (or even a 2v2 - or 1v1, which happens far to often). Is sad really. There ought to be a law, eh?

Actually, it probably is grounds for a lawsuit. The problem is that our damages are, at most, equivalent only to the amount spent on purchasing the game (and possibly a pro-rata amount of our ISP bill for down-days, if a jury believe we only purchased an ISP to play Shoggy).

We could try claims based on:

Breach of Contract, Intentional Misrepresentation, Negligent Misrepresentation, Breach of Express Warranty, Breach of Implied Warranty, and Breach of Warranty of Fitness for a Particular Purpose.

And like I said, if we won we would probably get $20 or so each. (i.e. the decrease in monetary value of the Shogun game to us). We probably wouldn't be entitled to recover our attorney fees either. And so we are faced with starting a multi-million dollar class action suit to recover $20 each.

So yes, we could sue their ass, but it really wouldnt be worth it. Friggin bastids.

I am just wondering, is it that hart to keep the server up???????

I been playing this game now for 2 years
and I have never seen a so bad Customer Service on a Server as for this game.

If I would be responsible for this game I would hiding myself somewhere and never show up.

The original Server for STW has been down now for a over a month now and now the WE/MI server is down again.

Honestly how hard is it to keep the server up for at least 3 month or a year.

If my company would do this to customer we would be out of bussiness with 1 month...

This is just my opinion about it and I am not very happy about it.about it.

On the map download issue:
It would be nice that the host set up a game on a map, and if people dont have it, may have the option to download it on the spot without having to go out.

What a fine 3v3 103 game on OB_RiverCrossing that was Saturday. I think the game lasted about an hour with very resourceful play by everyone, and the victor in doubt right up to the end. Congrads to TodasWarrior, Dune and Annie for a well earned victory. When the game ended and the EA server was down it was like dropping out of hyperspace in Star Wars and finding no Alderan. We were all set to continue a great night of gaming, but it was cut short.

What hung me up initially was the proper modifications to internet.cfg.

When you are done with it, it should look like this:

ChatserverIPAddress = 123.123.23.123
ChatserverPort = 8793
NewsserverIPAddress = daphne.eagames.co.uk
NewsserverPort = 8797
ShogunTotalWarWebsite = www.totalwar.com (http://www.totalwar.com)

You only need to add the IP address of the host to the top line (ChatserverIPAddress) and change the Chatserver port to whatever the host tells you (it will be the host's "listen" port in the Fakeserv program which defaults to 8793).

That should get y'all back on the sauce.

Bachus, NC and I we had a good FFA
We also notice (me being the host on a 56K)
was alot faster then the normal game.

Now we know that we dont need this server (when it is down) that we can play it.
