View Full Version : I will not buy MTW, I will continue with STW !
ok ... that's clear. I'm not interested in European middle age...
2 years ago, I bought STW and then STWMI because it was a wargame which takes place in medieval Japan ...
Am I the only one ?

To be honest Iam getting a little bored of STW and MI. I mean yeah great when I could get online to play you guys it was great. But now I dunno. I'm looking forward to MTW because its a new game. Yes its based on the same principals but there is so much more that CA have added.
Personally I can't wait.

I feel a bit like between hammer and anvil, because I love both "my" samurai and this community.
To be honest...I don't give a damn about medieval warfare, but I love this community too much to let it pass by...I'll be there, but with the sweet memories of all STW/MI battles in the back of my head.

I think I will do both perhaps one will outshine the other and I'm not sure which, so then I will probably drift that way.
The most important thing to me is the community. As Kas says it will mean a case of going with the crowd or rather going where the crowd is http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
Like yourself I have always found Eastern history far more interesting than European. However from what I've seen of it the gameplay is the same anyway

For some, its not being interested in the time period, its the game. STW was probably the mot fun Ive ever had with a game. MTW is going to be better, I can tell just by the demo

What is it that makes a complete stranger dive into an icy river to save a solid gold baby? Maybe we'll never know.
I too bought STW and MI b'cos it Japanese warfare.. samurai and such. Not familiar with European history and warfare. But I'll still buy MTW just to go online and battle it out with the rest, since that where the crowd is moving.

Same.
Yet I found as a kid I could eat more sweets at a party if I also ate more savoury food.
So I'm going to ply MTW so I can play more STW http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif!

for me its important how many good-skilled players play it, so i hope we see many many guys online!
...and ofcourse its a bit boring if u go online and see just 12 guys playing and u have to wait hours for a battle...
i like the samurai units and i never will foget the old stw-times but for me its more the game-style than the timeperiod.

well i'm more interested in european history, but i still loved shoggy. and medieval single player strategies soung gr8.
Yep shoguns lost its charm after 2 years and the general playing tactics seem to all go along one track now. Guns and ahis guns and ashis and so on. I hope mtw won't have units that can be unrealistically upgraded with fine disregard for history.

Surely you could mod STW troops in MTW? Feudal Japan vs. Knights vs. Mongols would be the likely result!

Sure going to buy MTW, hope that loads of new players will come because of this new game coming out. Personally I have not many things with old Shoggy, but MI I like a lot, although there aren't that many people on all the time. Hope this will change when MTW comes out. Also interested in the european history. Looking forward to it!!

Do your best and do it according to your own inner standard-call it conscience-not just according to society's knowledge and judgement of your deeds.
Please allow me to be blunt.
Do you people play games 8 hours a day? Do you people call it a career? Or do you call it a life?
I know I tend to be very addictive. So in order to keep my job and finish my degree, I won't buy it. Not in the near future, at least.

personally i play this game cause it is fun and competitive! i can understand that ppl wanna play certain games because it interests them, but i think its taken too far saying this isn't historically correct etc etc.. (history sucked at school and it still does http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif not saying that theres anything wrong with it but i just got better stuff to do http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif )imo m:tw is just an add-on of the same game and if the competeition goes there then so will i http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

medieval looks good, it probably plays good, hell it deserves to be good, and if i was interested in european warfare ide of bought some othergame then shoggy like cossocks or whats it called, medeival is going to be a great game, it has to be, its an updated total improved version of shoggy, but i like my samurai, i like the far east, so im going to stick with my shoggy....i'll get fantasy total war though...when its eventually finished and released http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
