I just came up with one of my bright ideas!

What I am thinking of is some kind of federation, that would unite and unify all online gaming that's going on. Of course I don't mean private games, but more like clans and tourneys, as well as individual tourneys.

The duties of such body would be ie. helping new clans get started, keep a record of all active onlnie clans and their current number of players, make a seasonly ranking of clans based on all tourneys that went on, and also keep the record of all tournaments that were and are being organised, help with their organisation and keep them fair.

Such organisation would be working with all the tournaments and it would approve of new and old clans, putting them onto some kind of official clan list. And ie. any clan that would want to take part in ie. CWC or CWB would first have to get the approval of this organisation (which wouldn't be hard). Also it could help players unite, especially ronins looking for clans.

This idea is mainly based on sport organisations, ie. FIFA which itself does not organise tourneys but maintains all of the official ones.

Members of such organisation would be elected say twice a year and they would consist of most well-known and most respected members of the community. And let's say that would be some kind of main comitee of this federation, but in the most important votes every "approved" clan would get one vote.

I know it's a very idealistic thing and I know that it is very hard to make a strong and respected organisation. Neverhteless I still think that it isn't impossible, so please - tell me your ideas on that.

Unfortunately I lost my pw and it doesn't retrieve it so I had to make a new account ~:dizzy:

Idealistic. Very imo.
Don't get me wrong m8, but I like the bigger picture of your plan, but it will not work. Maybe in the beginning. But in the later stage it will probably become to big to handle or it will become corrupted. Also I don't like the big control idea: They should approve if I can join a tournament?

You also said: Members of such organisation would be elected say twice a year and they would consist of most well-known and most respected members of the community.

Twice a year voting? So when they are finally installed the next election is probably already on the way and a tournament is not a thing that you create in a weeks time (experience has thought me that when I helped 7bear7Yogi to organise her tournament on STW). And the most respected members? By what standards? MTW? Some peeps that are called "most respected" are actually disliked by a lot of other members and I myself am not planning to let someone else order our clan around. Because I think it will lead to that (the corrupted thing I mentioned before). Some peeps will see this as an opportunity to gain more power over others (it has happend a lot before. Also in clans itself. Internal power struggles have destroyed 2 clans recently).

Like I said, I like your idea behind this. But there are too much options to make this a more troublesome project, then it would gain benefit for the clans.
And now I am off fishing. ~

Well when I wrote that it would consist of "best-known" players I meant that nobody would elect some newbie who they know nothing of.

I know it would be very hard to make this work, but firstly: its members would be clans, sites and tourneys, not players themselves.

Secondly - no, it wouldn't approve of you playing in the tournament, hell that is what the organisers are supposed to do. It would rather approve of the tournament, stating that its rules are clear and unbiased (but of course not questioning the battle rules themselves)...

Thx for the extra explanation Antek. Maybe I misread something (was a bit in a hurry). Like I said, I like the thoughts behind this plan, don't get me wrong. But for a big project like this, you need peeps from several clans (correct me if I am wrong plz.). And not all clans get along with eachother. And I think that will be the biggest problem: make all those peeps get in line together to succeed your goals. Then there is always the option that, for example someone has a great idea and posts about it, that others who dislike him / his clan just vote against it because of that (sounds childish, but these peeps are around). Also the fact that some clans have a dispute with other clans since the early days of STW.

In a nuttshel: I fear that this project is just to big to unite all the clans because they are so completely different.

Although I sound a bit pessimistic about this, I certainly do hope it succeeds. It would be a great step forward to create a better atmosphere in the lobby.

Good luck

P.s. my apologies if my words sometimes sound a bit harsh. Like I mentioned I was a bit in a hurry and as a not english speaking person I might have sounded harsh, yet this was never my intention.

No, I didn't get you harsh at all, this is the reason I wrote this post - to hear people's opinion of it. I'm perfectly aware of what you have said and that is precisely the reason I wrote this post on several forums - to see people's reaction on that.

I knew what the troubles could be from the beginning so I did not expect everyone yelling "hurray, fantastic idea, let's get it started!", furthermore I did not want any comments like that cuz they wouldn't give me anything apart from satisfaction.

And I come to the main point: I wrote the same topic in all 3 big tw forums (.net, .org and twcenter) to see whether its owners and users would appreciate such thing. Cuz if I get the support of this 3 sites, along with CWC, CWB and a few big clans (ie. Elite, Celtibero, Wolves, etc.) it will have a chance of working out cuz the majority would support it. So of course I don't expect it to be some kind of magic unity of clans where they would go happily together, hell no! It would simply be a formal force that would get them organised, like FIFA or the Olympic Comitee. Such organisations work but not all soccer clubs like each other ~;)
