Sorry, I have no search privileges yet, so I ask my question here.

I don't really understand how work spying from boat. Sometimes I have access to units & province details, but sometimes not.
Ok, I guess that a boat can "protect" his provinces if it shares sea with my boat. But, there is another case I don't understand.

for example, I have a boat in English Channel (alone), another in Irish sea (alone), and one in North Sea (With byzantine one). And I have no access to english units & provinces details ! Buildings & units are not clickable. Englishmen have only a boat to Bay of Biscay, far of GB...

Why am I blind in this case ? (English spies on native provinces maybe ?)

Thx

spying from boats work only if you have naval superiority in the region. can you invade em?

I prefer a bishop/priest/alim network for spying

What do you mean about "naval superiority" ? You talk about level buildings, level boat ?
I'm praticly alone all around GB (except one byzantine boat), no english boats, and I can't click on their buildings & units. Why ?
And of course, those boats are here for trading, but they avoid me to send strategic agents. It works normally on all coasts except GB. Why ?

I think Katank meant do you have a contiguous line of sea lanes from your nearest port to the English provinces ie. if you click on a unit in your port, do the English provinces "light up pale lavender" so you could land one of your units on English soil? If not, you will not be able to see what the Provinces contain.

Also click the "V" key to make sure all your sea squares to the English provinces are green. If they are not, then either you do not have naval superiority in all the sea squares (an enemy boat is blocking one or more squares) or your sea lane is "broken" somewhere where you do not have a boat.

Finally, you're right.
An english boat on Bay of Biscaye "block" my continous to North sea line and I can't convoy my troops in GB. Squares are all green but work only for trade. So, boat spying and military mouvements need clear line or naval superiority on square...
