Sneaky Assassins

Does anyone know if it's possible to get an assassin to take out anyone other than the general in a stack?

For instance the Danes often have one big stack with the king as general and several princes beneath him. I'd like to send the inquisitors in but standard inquisitors don't cut the mustard with Kings but can do a nice Prince mixed grill. Is there anyway of getting at them if they belong in the same army as dad?

I'm not sure but I also think that the AI can take out more lowly generals in your stack. Has anyone else witnessed this or is it the gin monkey climbing in my eyes?

The AI can target only the top man in a stack, but if they get targetted then that unit gets put in another stack then they will still go for him, even if he is no longer the leader. YOu can;t target anyone but the leader of a stack, bt can do the same if the stack breaks apart, you target, then it reforms.

I have the same problem with the danes, and found the only way to solve it is to weither kill the king with assassins, the new one will turn up as a new stack, or burn him with a high valour grand inquisitor, which means a citadel and reliquary. Even then, grand inquisitors take some training. You might want to leave a normal inquisiotor there while training grand ones to raise zeal, all types of inquisitor work far better in places of high christian zeal.

Am playing the Danes, GA, Early.

Had a large stack in Sweden w/my faction heir leading. Was informed by the AI that one of my generals had been assassinated but that the heir was OK and that I should take steps to increase security ~:mecry:

Must have the the English as they're the only ones w/a Tavern ~:mad:

I figured one of my generals had strepped in the way of a speeding dagger but was unable to identfy a missing man. ~D

Maybe if the main target gets missed a bystander may fall ~:idea:

I think I've had high command (stars) generals in a stack, an assassination message saying a general (usually valour 0) has been whacked and the original general is still there. It's as if the computer's going for easier targets.

I agree... for some jobs. However inquisitors can only target Catholic generals. For agents, Orthodox and Muslim targets you still need to go the assassin route. I tend to use my assassins more for "internal security" once I have inquisitors.
