We received an Activision press release, announcing that Rome: Total War has been released to manufacturing and thus has gone gold. Creative Assembly's newest strategy game will be shipping to North American stores September 22.

Wow ... you really just put it into perspective for me. Work has been so busy I still had the mindset that Sept. 22 is like 3 weeks away.
I'm actually going to be expaning the Roman empire in 8 days time. ~D
Ships on the 22nd. Won't be in stores until the 23rd. And then only the stores (like EB) that use over-night shipping for their distribution. Count on it.
Hmm, good point. So I guess we can use the extra 24 hours to do everything that we WON'T be doing for the week afterwards.

i got the box with the map in the mail.
do i have to go to the Bestbuy store to get it, or will it come to my house?
and i only paid $10 for the preorder, are they going to automaticly charge me the extra $40, or will i get a bill for it?

USMCNJ, if you pre-ordered with $10 at the BestBuys store, you will have to go to that store to pick it up. At the time of pickup you will have to fork over the remaining $40. Chances are, depending upon the closeness of the store vs your stop on a delivery route, you most likely can get RTW quicker at the store - the delivery truck might not show up until 5pm.

But I'm still holding off until I hear the reactions of the fine folks here before I piss away $50.
If the general consensus is improvement (as compared to the demo) and approval I'll gladly rush down and buy it :)

Look right here (http://www.totalwar.com/community/rome.htm) at the top of the page.
That means that if you have it on pre-order you should get it through your letterbox on the morning of the 23rd and if you want to buy it in a shop then it'll be on the shelves on the morning of the 23rd. (North America)

On a more cautious note guys do keep your eyes and ears open to the reviews and talk about what this game actually plays like.
Just try not to get your hopes up so high that even RTW cannot fulfill your expectations!

Obake Date has stated that there is nothing official about 1st October, nothing. I could be released with the US only delayed until the Friday as with all game releases.

I heard that the game would be shipped to the UK 2 days after the US release. My hopes are high for getting it on time. Try buying it online, it might just be ur store which will be releasing on 1st of October.

OK, I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I have a confession to make. I was totally UNimpressed with the demo. Here's why: I have been looking at the new graphics, in forums, on TV, trailers, etc., for well over a year. The History Channel has a weekly show on "Decisive Battles" that is great only because it uses RTW's new engine. The point is, there was nothing new for me to see in the demo. The graphic are now old hat. Kinda sad, really. I've avoided most discussion on RTW, trying to avoid burn-out before the release. ~:eek: But it didn't work. RTW seems to be everywhere I look.
I only hope the campaign aspect is half as much as I hope for. The graphics never bothered me in MTW, and the improvement will not make or break the new game. The campaigning will.
