Bachus\' Server up tonight-- details

Hi everyone, I am Bachus Fukushima, and I will be letting you use my computer as a server for a few hours.

I plan to have it up and running at approximately 7:00 PM, Pacific Standard Time, 8/20/02, until 10:00 or so.

I am at GMT -8, so for you folks in the UK, that must be 03:00 21/08/02... pretty darn early in the morning for you.

I will post the IP address in this thread when I get home and start up the server...

Hope to see some people there... (I'm running a cable-modem, and man even a 56k modem is 3 times faster than EA's server!). So come and check it out, you don't have to download anything, just modify your "internet.cfg" file in your shogun directory.

Instructions and IP address to follow, around 6:45 PM. (remember GMT-8).

How many ppl can ply if u r the host?

Theoretically my computer is the host, and there isn't any limit to the # of people that can logon (that I know of). I can set the limit, but it would be set to like 30 or something rediculous. Once logged on it just behaves like the normal server, so you could host games, I could host games, etc.

You should try it on Tosas server...get the server switching program and give it a try. The speed will blow you away.

Orda, the only thing I can think is:

1) Tosas server wasnt up when you tried or

2) You ran STWServer.bat in a directory other than your MI/WE root directory (for me it is C:\Program Files\Total War\Shogun - Total War.

3) Your internet connection wasnt working or

4) You were behind a fire-wall or something.


It should work without any real trouble....
try again, its worth it.

Yes Tosa's server was running for most of the night and I was trying periodically from 15.13 pm until 01.35 am.

My main directory is the same as yours.

My firewall is always deactivated when I go on Shogun

Nothing wrong with my connection.

Nice to hear how good the server is. I'm beginning to wonder if total war is worth all the bother. It's a brilliant game if only they could get it to work. The whole online experience has been marred by continual problems that make me think perhaps I wasted money ordering MTW.

That's just wierd Orda, I don't know what the problem could be.

Sorry man-- this sucks.

Don't shift EA's blame to Activision yet... give the big A a chance to show us some real customer service/support before we start bashing them.

Hmm, good work by some of our community-members and i appreciate it very much, but like Orda and Jochi i fail to connect to Tosa's server. Tried it several times...it won't work. Nice that it works for some of you...i am too much a computer-illiterate to waste any more time on trying to join that famous Toda-server hehe
Bad luck i guess. Since EA has almost surely decided to shut down the "official" server, we will see us again in MTW.

Jemasze,

Manually copy the internet.cfg in the \Servers\Tosa folder to your main game folder. To go back to EA server copy the internet.cfg from \Servers\EA to your main game folder.

Didn't realize you were TheFool. Awesome player.

I have a Server file in my main game folder with both \Servers\Tosa.. and \Servers\EA in it.
I have noted that Orda does not have this Server file in his main game folder although he has downloaded Server.Swapper. But he has still been able to play online......Jochi Khan
