Powerful Hurricane Ivan approaches the Mobile area and will be making landfall in the next 8 hours. As with every Gulf of Mexico hurricane, this one could be the hurricane that ends New Orleans. For the 35 people on earth that don't already know, the Big Easy lies below sea level. A major hurricane could flood the entire city, creating an unprecedented metropolitan disaster. In fact, I read once that all the graveyards in the area are above-ground mini-mausoleums, and once a flood comes there'll be coffins floating down the streets. This probably won't happen, but this is the closest it's come in years to this event that everybody's been worried about. Mobile's going to be hit the worst, anyway, and Mobile's on some low ground.
