View Full Version : About the Romans in RTW
i was wondering.. if I play the julii family can say the bruti family become Emperor???? I mean does the AI Romans strive to become Emperors?? and if they do and they become emperor what will happen to your roman faction?? will I lose?? or will it continue for me to "knock" them of the throne so I instead can become emperor?... or say even can I maybe ignore that they have taken the throne as emperor and ally with them even???... or can they give me missions like the senate did??? or vice cersa can I give missions to other roman factions when I am emperor??... I know that the game is won after a while when I have been emperor but if I continue what will happen to the other romans???
I know... ALOT of questions, but I haven't read anything about this and its seems kinda fuzzy...
c'mon guys... doesn't anyony of u have some sort of answer or even a thought???
No idea, jompe. Historically, the factions allied, built up strength, and when the time was "right" they all tried to crush each other. So I'm guessing that there will come a point when you've got good cash flow, a large army, and the Senate gets nervous enough to sic the other two Roman factions on you --- for good. That is, you either survive and become Emperor (by taking Rome itself), or you get wiped out.
As far as wiping out the other factions, or winning without wiping them out, I'm guessing (again) that you could win the game without completely destroying the other Roman factions, but again historically the Civil Wars and ensuing assassinations were directed at exactly that -- wiping out the other factions completely. So the designers could have done either and kept historically accurate, it's an endgame gameplay issue that we don't know much about for a few more days.

They can, but I don't think it's likely they'll start the Civil War. They can't become Imperator unless you're dominated, in which case, the game is over. I believe either you have to start it, or the senate will, once you become to powerful or popular for it's liking.

I think i heard of one of the interviews of the developers said that, they did not like it in mtw where you controlled more or less everywhere and you there is nothing stopping you from completing it. So they have done it so that when you become really powereful as one of the roman factions that there will be a big civil war to make the game more interesting.
thnx guys... It would have been cool if u could become emperor and "act" like the senate in some sort of way... but then again when the war between my roman faction and the senate I guess thet the senate ask for the other roman factions support and either they support it or they dont...
hehe a thought that just poppep up in my mind: maybe a siege against rome with all roman factions involved and all of them wanting to become emperor... hmm... a three way siege but they are all enemies.... but that we'll find out soon.. unly a couple of days left guys!!!! hang in there!!

Well to become Emperor I get the impression that you have to exterminate the other two Roman factions, making it quite difficult to take the position of Emperor if you've been completely defeated. You have to acheive this by 14 AD too, so you can't take your time defeating your fellow Romans.

I recall reading somewhere that you had to capture Rome and hold it for 20 years to be crowned imperator. Not 100% sure on that though.

I think the other Roman factions will be more closed to the Senate, so their expansion will be probably not so fast and extended as the faction controlled by the player. In other words, they would be playing closely in tandem with the Senate.
If one of the other factions come to Rome and declare itself Emperor I assume you will need to go and kick their ass but I guess it would be not probable, and I can imagine the developers made the Senate something like the Pope in MTW so the Senate will reappear in some years with a huge army. :charge:
"can they give me missions like the senate did??? or vice cersa can I give missions to other roman factions when I am emperor??..."
I think not, they will not act like a Senate but like an Emperor so they will need to destroy you and if you win and capture Rome, you cannot give any missions to the other Roman factions b/c you'll need to destroy them before declare yourself Emperor. :knight:

Obviously if one of the other faction leaders become Emperor you have lost, but do you suppose the Senate can become jealous of one of the non-player factions that gets "too powerful" and direct you and the other faction to strike it, just as the Senate will do to you if you get too powerful?
