well i never pre order anything, when it gets here i´ll drive to a shop and buy it or ask a friend whos flying over from the states on friday to bring me a copy heh
Yep, I pre-ordered through EB's. So of course if the game doesn't live up to expectations, (which I severly doubt), I can always return it.
Colt.
I sort of pre-ordered it. I also reserved it in a shop...probably get it sooner that way.

Pre-ordered, but only because I know it was a very good price and I don't think it will be cheaper anywhere else (at least in Holland). Pre-ordered at 39 euro's. 10 euro cheaper then the large chains, and 5 euro cheaper then most online discounters.

i am going to preorder it today, total cost will be a measly $57 Canadian including tax, with no Shipping & Handling. :D

I don't usually preorder because there is a GAME right by where I work so I pick up any new release Friday lunch time....
I was adamently against pre-ordering (reserving copy, forget about mail-order) because I didn't want to be locked in to one shop on "The Day".
However, after finding out that one EB (out of 10) in the area had 20 pre-orders, I went ahead and chickened out and did it.

I don't really think there is much point to pre-ordering - games are always on the shelves in the local shop on the day of release.
However, I might have to think again if here in the UK it is confirmed that it will not be released until 1 Oct. :help:
My local shop told me they don't have much PC sales so they focus more on stocking for the console side. Unless the PC game is very popular, they won't order much and might order a week or two late. That's why I always reserve a copy of games I want on the release date. That way, it's guaranteed to be in stock.
You know if you do'nt preorder and you do'nt get off of work early you may find they are sold out. Gamestores will do overnight shipping for the people that reserved there copy and some extras for expected sales within the next few days. Now if there estimate was off or the distribution company is overwhelmed and having trouble meeting the demand you may find yourself short changed. I remember getting off work and getting to the mall at 8:50 PM, 10 minutes until closing. I had gotten 1 of the last of 3 copies of that game and the other 2 were reserved. Mine was also reserved and if I had'nt reserved it I would have had to wait anywhere from 1 to 7 days on average to get the game. So the question is it wo'nt change the price of the game and are you willing to risk that you have to wait a few extra days.

I work on Wednesday so I didn't want it to be sold out. I don't think that it will be sold out but here's why I pre-ordered my first game online:
Futureshop.ca has the shipping/release day on the 22nd!!

I pre-ordered primirily to get the DVD EBgames was handing out with pre-orders. Regardless, I plan on having my nose pressed against the mall's doors waiting for them to open up first thing in the morning.
I did 2 months ago. Got an extra special preview DVD with a G4 techtv dev interview and the officail trailer to boot.

I did. From Amazon.
Who knows when it will be available here in Portugal.
Don't want to wait that long.
I still remember MTW was like 2 months late. :disappointed:

the reason i pre-ordered was becuase Rome will never come here until after at least 5 months, almost every activision game does that ~;p , the only thing that comes in time are games published by EA (sims 2 was released the same day here as it was around the world for example).
I also did from amazon.co.uk although I'm french. Not only because it's out 7 days earlier but it's usually cheaper and better than the french versions.
Yeah, definitely! I want it as soon as is humanly possible! :charge:
i pre-ordered months ago, but can't remeber who i pre-ordered from and i accidentally deleted the confirmation email. i know that it wasn't one of the giants like amazon and i know that it was offering the bonus dvd which is why i got it there. so hopefully i should get a shipping confirmation email soon.

Amazon preorder. I hate the high street, so I shop online.
First time I ever preordered a game, but I'm still gonna take it off at the store though.. It's about 2min away from my "current" home.

Thats in B.C. right? I'd expect a shelf day same as us here in Ontario.
Past experience has lead me to trust Compusmart more than EB. Compusmart states "Coming Soon. Due to arrive in 3 Days" for Sept 23. Realisticly we should have on the shelf this Friday. Seems to be a few days delay between Canadian shelf day, and the U.S. It's a heck allot better than it use to be 5 years ago. I have made a instore reservation for one copy. I don't preorder. Shipping costs in this country are absurd if you want it within a week of release.
Just a little off note:
I use to preorder allot of games straight from U.S. using best possible delivery ie:Fedex overnight. By the time a new release reached my door (which it did fast) shipping, taxes, customs, usually brought the total to $90.0CA. Then the Fedex guy wanted another 10.80 for whatever. That was years ago. Mind you today the exchange rate isn't as bad, but so much for free trade.

Yeah it's BC.
Yeah I'm not expecting it to arrive on the 22nd - but it was interesting to see that. I ordered it with the best possible shipping which was $3 extra - however there is a sale on at Future Shop until the 23rd ($10 off) which more than made up for that. So in the end I'll be getting it cheaper through pre-ordering and getting it shipped right to my door ~D

I see that yeah. I think that makes it the cheapest place to buy it. Curious why they are doing that. Perhaps to compete with EB's bonus DVD?

I pre-ordered, but not until a CD-copy of the demo was available with the pre-order. Downloading the demo over a phone modem would have taken 15 hours.
Just got back from my local Gamestop and reserved a copy. They'll have it on Thursday. The last time I did this was for Battlefield: Vietnam and that proved to be a bit of a disappointment, so much so that I wished I had waited until one of gogamer.com's 48 Hour Sales to get it at a reduced price. Not to worry though, based Siblesz' preliminary review over at TWC it looks like I will NOT be disappointed this time... ~;)

Did not preorder. Mostly because of the demo (and that is a sad statement for the marketing department).
I'm not going to buy the game if some of the bad things that were in the demo are still in the game. They probably fixed the worst ones, and then I will buy it. But not preorder it, and not until people scout it out first.
And I have no regrets (will enjoy it more on my new laptop I hope to get soon).

I've never had that problem my sister pre-ordered the sims 2 from EB games ad it came out on the date that was on the EB games canada website. The problem was that our local stores supply was sent to another location and she couldn't get it till the next day. So with that in mind RTW should be at EB games store where I reserved it on sept.22.
Also in case it's not in my sig I live in Halifax Nova Scotia and getting it from futrure shop would be a huge pain in the ass as there are 2 locations in Halifax and both are 2 hours from where I live , due to shitty bus service and road planning.

Well I'm not sure what to think then, because I called a local EB store here, and they told me over the phone RTW would be available Sept 30th. That just don't compare with what Future Shop or Compusmart are saying, both of which are Canadian national stores. I guess we'll find out who gets which first soon enough. Maybe the yin-yang I was talking to on the phone didn't know how to look up my request. I think the next time I call them, I'll first ask to speak with an adult. (No offence intended to the younger crowd here) :)
Well here in NS the EB stores are small franchise boutique outlets. Another experience with EB and release dates is for Call of Duty. Friend of mine went to our local EB store on COD release date and started shooting the shite with the guy behind the counter for a few minutes before COD came up and the clerk said that they had COD they just hadn't put it out on display yet. My firend asks if there is anything to stop him buying and the clerk says no, so he bought it right then and there. So the EB store in ontario may get RTW on the 22 but not put it out for sale for 8 days.

I've never pre-ordered a game. I came close with CIV3 though. I'm sure I'll but RTW but I may wait and see for a while since I wasnt impressed with the demo.
I pre-ordered it as soon as it was available for pre order.
