View Full Version : 1 Last MTW: VI Campaign
Hi Everyone ~
I haven't played an MPW: VI campaign for a while but think I will just try one more to get me through the next 2 weeks until RTW comes out in the UK.
I generally play on Early Hard and would like suggestions for a testing faction as maybe my last ever MTW: VI campaign. I have completed the English on Early alone and the Italians on Early in a 2 player PBEM.
Please give me your suggestions :help:
The Danes all the way !
Get those vikings from Norway, housecarles from Sweden and longboats from Denmark and take over the world. Be prepared for early money-troubles though.
playing as aragonese, mainly because i havent played as them much, no "unique" unitsbut they're in quite a good position for rich pickings at the edge of english/french/german/spanish lands (i had the spanish dynasty collapse on me making for very easy non-papal-deploration expansion, missed the crusader deadline for antioch by a year though :furious3: )
Both of those suggestions are great. I don't know about money worries as the Danes, though... jsut concentrate from turn one on getting trade up and running. Get boats out asap and take over the scandinavian peninsula. Aragon is great because the Iberian peninsula has lots of Iron and is easily defendable. It also has exactly the correct number of provinces in it to generate each flavour of unit! Quality. You could always play as the Swedes in MedMod ~;)

Why don't you try one of the muslim factions for a last Pope-less game. I'd say Turks, huge variety of units, nice starting position in Early and still a decent challenge (though not hard, especially when following Katank's Ransom-The-Egyptian-Sultan (R) strategy).
Also funny beating Crusades.
Thanks for all your recommendations ~
In the end I chose the Danes but only managed to get in a quick 45 minutes last night. I just had time to take Sweden and Norway and to get their loyalty above 100. I had a very very close battle against the 6 vikings in Norway as I had only taken 1 unit of archers along.
Now I can have a brief rest and concentrate on building up my fleet and trade buildings for a few years.
Let's hear if you managed to get the economy booming, or if you've had some meager years. What are your next targets?
Hi Magraev ~
I did fancy having a go at the British Isles but it is not a great source of income so I may try for other high trade good provinces closer to home ~D

I have gone for a Early Hard Byz game to get in the right mood for RTW, trying to rebuild the Republic and a mediterranian empire....
After 100 years I have secured my starting provinces (Naples was bloody hard to hang on to, and I even lost it to the Sicilians for a while...) and I have added Rum, Serbia and Sicily to them.. And have been at war with the Italians and Sicilians (on and off naval battles and invasions) and the Turks and Egyptians (they started it...).
