i was never a star wars geek, but this game looked intriguing to me, so.....

it's pretty good. it has a nice instant action feature, which is always good, and then you're off, running around with a squad and all those nifty support vehicles.
one thing i always found lacking in fps was team play, and the pre-programmed team play (like in medal of honor) didn't quite do the trick, either. but this team play (for one player) is excellent.
anyone for mp?

this might get in the way of me rushing out to get RTW (still haven't played the demo, btw).

Hi Soypsist ~

I noticed it on gamespot today. I have a 37 year old brother who loves Star Wars but he has downs syndrome. I am limited to what games he can play and have left the Star Wars flight games alone but he seems ok on fighting games or anything where you don't have to interact by pressing buttons etc. Do you think it may be suitable for him?

Thanks for any advice ~

I really liked the demo. But I'm a bit broke after buying RTW, so I have to wait a while.... or just force my brothers to buy it. ~D

Great game, but buggy as hell. Feels like I paid for a beta test.

the game is battlefield 1942 star wars style. massive, pointless battles with units spawning constantly in on both sides. the ai has no concept of tactics, with the most frequent behavior being opposing soldiers running up to each other and shooting at each other from a range of 10 feet. if this is your thing, then it should be a fine game. i myself am a ghost recon fan, so it really didnt do anything for me. it seemed stable for the 2 days it was installed on my pc.

i dislike the whole spawning thing - if there are 250 men in each army, the game should start with 250 men on the field. and yeah, i've been bumped right into grenades by my own men a few times.
what i'm looking for are new maps and mods for this game. i've already figured out every campaign map, so the sp games are a bit boring. now all i do is try to fight and survive without dying (even once) through the campaigns. so far, so good.

I had picked it up to keep me occupied till R:TW, which I should be getting later to day. I was pretty happy with it, the AI is of course dumb but its pretty accurate on the hardest difficultly level so you can't just wade through them. In addition to this the Galactic Conquest mode is fun, each planet you take gives different bonuses and if you play the Empire you can even use the Death-Star to blow them up. In a particularly long game I blew up Tattoine, Naboo, and Yavin IV. There seems to be problems with multiplayer though, which is a real shame since thats where the game could have really stood out. However if you're looking for a fun team-based FPS to play SP and have the cash to spare its worth it, I didn't notice any bugs. Using my GF2 I did notice slowdown on heavily forested levels, thats only like three of them though.

Totally agree, I found it very fast and buggy. Im used to playing 1942 and Vietnam, and as far as Im concerned its not a patch on Galactic conquest, which is a star wars mod for 1942. Pity I was really looking forward to this as well ~

If you have it on X-box try the live feature. Wifey keeps playing online so I haven't seen a tv show in two weeks. If you see Pyhhricvictory on line, kill her for me...

i don't mean to sound like a fanboy, but there really is no reason to play any other online shooter besides call of duty: united offensive. that is, of course, unless you don't like the world war II setting. i like how it doesn't even list your kill/death ratio. it just tells you your points, rank, and deaths. teamwork is required in order to succeed. you've got to actually contribute to your team in order to go up in rank. just running around randomly killing enemies doesn't get it done. you've got to work together to have any chance at capturing or holding objectives. it's fun stuff because it eliminates that whole "1'm UbAr l33+!!! OMG LOL OMGWTFBBQ!!!11111oneone!!1" attitude. you either win or lose as a team.

Yup, totally agree, COD:UO is the best. You will often see me on as $hootist.
