View Full Version : Siblesz' Review at TWC up!
Hey all,
RTW is out in less than a day (for some of us :dizzy2: ). You may want to read Siblesz' RTW Review (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=9252) at TWCenter. (There's another link you have to click; I don't want to just give out the direct link).
Graded 9.6/10. Ample criticism, but mostly favorable points. Sounds like decent, honest review, oftentimes it sounds like a mini-guide to RTW. Not finished reading it.

quite a good balanced review with points offering praise and criticism. One point that I found interesting was that not only do you have to conquer Rome in the Imperial campaign, you need at least 50 provinces too.

I just finished reading it, great review and it's got me soooo pumped to get playing it.
The only real nagatives were concerns over the Guals and Carthage being too underdeveloped as factions, no more princess unit, and occasional CTD bug.
The rest was pure, unadulterated praise :)
Now that I have read the review I really want to be the Parthians for my first non-roman campaign, they look great.
**one more negative point...the UI can't be minimized or hidden..grrr. Modders hopefully can get that one?**

good review from sibz
Good one, most certainly. But really, he only said what I personally expected, well aside from the lousy Carthies. That one hurt a lot.
Also I feel a little unsettled aout the power of the roman units, I doubt the Romans are very fun after Marius with the powerful legionaries.

after reading all of the reviews posted here, it sounds like its going to be a great game and I'm looking forward to it but i'm a bit worried that there will be the same problem as there was in MTW - that is, all the campaigns being the same. From what I have read, the Egyptians are very powerful, and usually beat the inevitable war with the Seleucids, coupled with Gaul and Carthage always falling. I dont really want to see a repeat of MTW - French always beating English, then devouring the HRE while the Egyptians dominate all in the east, eventually killing even the mighty Byzantine Jedi princes/expanding into Russia and the game becoming a showdown between the two (and spain off to the side, who invariably beats the Almohads and then gets crippled by civil war). Mods aleviated this to a certain degree however.
Gah. Why does the historically accurate faction have to be the strongest? I gave up on them making changes but I hoped they'd be one of the weaker factions or at least somewhere in the middle.
Well Egypt was always gonna be strong with that economy, and well, it looks like an eggy trash brigade is gonna stir up when i get RTW on Friday.
