I totally agree Tera
But they keep asking the same question, so this will put it to bed once and for all http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
Thanks for the try anyway.
But all remember there is always the fake server...

Disagree strongly!
I will get MTW and move on like the fast majority, but keep in mind the Org was and is a "Total War" fansite.
IMHO it's the Org's duty to support ALL TW players, not only those who will buy the newest version of the game.
What if the next Total War game will be: Sesame Street Total War?

Tera
Slight problem with Fakeserver. I can set up as a server but ....it seems.....problem for others either joining or being unable to see public chat.
Tosa and I tried this out night before last.........Jochi Khan

Tera,
The people who need the Shogun server are people like Annie who don't have the hardware to run MTW and have no prospect of getting the hardware anytime soon.

When I said the Shogun servers, I meant the EA ones. And I do believe they won't come back up unfortunately...but we have the fake server at least...

OK guys, next part of the thread.
I have had no meaningful reply from EA, just the usual cr*p - 'we are looking in it'
So I have sent a couple of emails to some PC gaming magazines, telling them what I think of the service we are currently being given by the EA server.
If I get a reply I will let u all know !!!!

Assuming that 212.36.147.193 is the correct IP address for the EA's STW server, using PC Pitstop's "Ping" and "Tracert" utilities shows it still active, though I still can't connect thru the game interface.
So I guess they haven't literally "pulled the plug"...but I'm beginning to suspect that maybe they're using that server for one of their newer games (Battlefield 1942's demo is very active right now, for example). That would be crappy.
I'm gonna follow ShadesWolf and write to Maximum PC about companies dropping game support.

Ok, OK. Well, I sent a few messages to EA. One answer was the standard "We are looking into the problem, and contacting the person responsible for the server" , and another telling me the person responsible is on holiday 'til the 2nd of Sept (if I interpretted it correctly). Did give me a home address, but what is the point? Will send a email to PC Gamer, not that it will do any good - but, couldn't hurt.

Why would they publish a criticism of a major advertising client?

** Krasturak **
PC games are independant from gaming mag companies as far as Im concerned http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
IF a mag is to much game/ company orientated in my opinion people wont buy that mag. So if PC gamer are walking the tight rope of 'Not criticising a major advertising client' they should be careful.
People buy mags to see what a game is like, Should I or should I not buy this game (Y/N)
If this is no longer there point, well what is there point......
Personnelly, I totally disagree, EA advertise in PC gamer because people read it.
END of point http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
