The topic says it all. I can't post any glorious screenshots yet because of my member status, but I have a large pile of them.
Im playing the game in 1280x968 or some odd resolution (wheres 1280x0124??) with most things up high as they go. Having desycronised movement actually gave me a huge performance hit so I turned that off.
This game is great, I never get tired of watching (and listening) to my Roman soldiers marching towards a doomed enemy.
I've started playing the campaign on hard/hard as the Julii and I have the following questions/impressions about the game so far:
Is there anyway to undo a movement you have given an army of the strategic map? Most other games have this function. I.e. I moved ONE unit to attack a full blown army once.
Have any of you had frustration with cavalry? They seem slow and cumbersom to move around, often taking weird routes to charge an enemy and knocking through your own formations...
Also moving troops through holes in fortifications and towns can be annoying path finding wise.
Low command generals/captians suck. Your troops rout quicker than peasants vs knights in MTW.
I won a battle where I was severly outnumbered and up poo creek basically, but I still won thanks to my 7 odd star general vs their 0 star one. All my troops were surrounded and my cavalry ended up surrounded too, but they routed! haha.
Generals can die A LOT quicker so by god, watch your generals!
While the AI is much improved, when defending they tend to "sit there" and let you pepper them with arrows. A bunch of enemy cavalry was sitting infront of the enemy army and let me cut it to bits with arrows, and then let my skirmishes shoot it too!
Walking your troops around doesnt seem to tire them out as much as some people make out, infact the worst ive ever seen my forces after a long march was "warmed up".
Is there any way to turn off those horrible green arrows? Also how do I remove the campaign battle timer?
Argh, Ive just looked in the screenshot folder and there is a meager two files in there, where are the rest???
Anyway, there are a million great things about this game that I could go on about - but I must get back to playing. :)
