What faction are you using for your first full-length campaign and how long do you think it will take you?

I'm playing a short campaign right now to unlock either Greece or Britannia which I will use for the full campaign.

I think it will take me 5-7 days to beat it (hard/hard diff)

Now, we shall see how long it really will take... :charge: :duel: ~

*this is not a race BTW, just for fun stories *

I would guess 7 days, but I am only working on unlockig the greek faction. I started a campaign as the Brutii and had conquered my way to the Agean. Sparta was the last free city on the Greek mainland. I noticed that the greeks were marching thru Macedonian held Cornith, I hoped w/o right of passage, so I tried the same thing. Macedonia declares war on me. I lay seige on Cornith, but am driven off by a 1800 man force. My army retreats in the direction of Sparta, so I decide to lay seige to it. I bring in reinforcements by sea, but I foolishly disembark them on the west, not east were my army was, side of Sparta. they are attack by a large force and I withdraw them, load them back on the ships and sail east. After they unload, I deciede to assault Sparta b/c of a large Greek army nearby. We have roughly even numbers in the assualt, and I gamble that I can capture the city b4 the bulk of their army arrives. I didn't understand how seige towers worked, so I threw away a unit of hastati. Using sappers I mad a breach else were. I send my phalanx mercinaries into the town square and have them enguage the enemy general. They loose their formation and start droping like flies. I charge my general into the rear of the clavary, but he and his unit do little damage and are destroyed in melee. My othre famly member in the battle was apparently killed by an arrow from the city walls. Seeing the battle lost, I withdraw. But apparently the greeks were able to pursue me, b/c my army, which had managed to conquer most of Greece, disappeared from the campaign map ~ I'm pretty sure it's not a bug, b/c the piece had death animation. I never had such an unset in MTW. I love this game.

I'm now playing the Full (long)version of the Imperial campaign as the Julii. Victory on this one unlocks all Factions instead of just those I defeat. It's defiantly not going to be done in 7 days. This one is going to take a while, but maybe it's the way I play. At this point I'm in a heavy war with the Gallic tribes. I think it would be cool to play the barbarians. I always enjoy the challenge of playing an underdog.

I want to learn all things Roman in anticipation of knowing how to defeat them when I go to play Egypt next.

I started with the House of Brutaii, and I think it will take a very long time because of home and work. However, I am going to Blitz the Greeks and hope for the best.

What we need is for players to start with each faction and report here what they find as they defeat and unlock other factions.

7 days? :inquisitive:

I'm very lucky if I can get in two hours a day amongst everything else life-wise, so I'll probably be at this for months. Enjoyable process, not complaining one bit ~:) but in 7 days I'll maybe have conquered the Gauls.
