HRE Faction Leader elected?

I have been browsing the MTW forums (great resources! esp the big frog guide) and in one area I read that something about how someone wanted his faction leaders to be 'elected' like the HRE are.

I am playing HRE in the campaign game and my leaders seem to get chosen automatically, so I am wondering if I am missing something or if I could say, somehow rig the election so the 'right' man gets chosen :D (From my list of heirs, 2 are much better than others).

only if you have no available heirs will there be an election.

this is the strong part of the HRE as other factions would die out in this situation and it would be game over.

however, if king dies with no heirs, a good stat general will be king and it will all be fine.

I've never actually needed that crutch but it's there.

however, the election means the nobles are more power hungry and there's no faction more prone to civil wars which are disastrous.

That's actually pretty nifty it seems to me. Makes up for medmod HRE being so darn hard :D

If you get a run of crappy kings and heirs then, send them gloriously into battle and 'elect' a general!
