Replays

After a lot of time playing and ignoring other responsibilities, here's the one thing I wish were different...

First, it would be VERY enjoyable with this level of detail to have a rewind on the VCR controls in the replays that you can do.

But second, and far more importantly, I wish I could save campaign battles. Custom/historical battles are fine and all, but it's the campaign battles that have context and meaning. I want to be able to relive my ambush of the Carthaginians in 258 BC at the foot of Mt. Etna! I want to be able to show off the amazing defeat of the Macedonians at Larissa when they outnumbered me 2-to-1! ~:mecry:

Not implying, no... just stating it outright. Saving campaign battles is not an option.

There was talk of a seige on CA's office block earlier... maybe this would be a good opportunity to actually do it? ~;)

Well this is a BIG disappointment to hear! With MTW I used to save every battle I've fought (well except custom and historical battles, I saved them rarely)! Seeing as RTW's battles are a lot faster I would have to concentrate on the battles and not really be able to just enjoy seeing armies fight, thus I was hoping, better yet assuming it would be in. I don't like this at all..

This and the suicide generals are major setbacks in my excitement to play the game.

As for the AI generals; couldn't they just program the AI generals to occasionally attack, but most of the time just stand behind their army and LIVE? Maybe I just have an exxagerated thought going through my mind about this though, I've yet to play the game.

Oh so I was't being stupid when I couldn't work this out - I even went right the way through the manual to try to work it out - great new graphics you can barely enjoy during the battle cause of the speed of the action and then no replay to enjoy afterwards - excellent.

How many enjoyable moments have I missed already? I've seen a peasant backstab one of my hastati - even heard him groan. Great fight on battlements with men getting pushed off the wall as my unit was slowly pushed back. But for each of those there would have to plenty more I will never see :furious3:
