Hey all,
I did a quick scan and didn't see any screenshot threads so I'll start posting some here. I had a couple of other really nice battle screenies but forgot to paste them (grrrrr) before taking the next ones. And sometimes I just plain forget to take some

Anyway here you go:
Gauls-ram.JPG (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/Gauls-ram.JPG)
It seems to me that I've been fighting with small forces. This is the remnants of my "main" army with my faction leader Flavius Julius. Looking back I should have merged some of these partial Hastati to bring up to closer 80 man full stength. Notice in the bottom left, the radar shows another Julii army assaulting from the other side. This was Flavius' 17yr grandson - who was slain in the village center. Also you start with one unit of triarii and it'll take a long time to get more.

Gauls-pathingbug.jpg (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/Gauls-pathingbug.JPG)
Here's Flavius I believe 3 turns later. He was holding a ford against Gaul invaders. This was the second Gaulish army assault that turn. Yes, you can get attacked more than once a turn. The first assault was a tough one. This second was much easier since the AI got caught in a pathing bug. Note that this is exactly where the first battle was fought also so I don't know why the second time the AI had problems. Flavius' heavy cavalry came down and charged the flank of this mass of Gauls; it was not pretty (if you were rooting for the Gauls). I did have a scare as the cavalry got bogged down in the mass, I couldn't get them out and I was scared he was going to die. You'll see this battle referred to on the campaign map from this point on.

Gauls-spotted.jpg (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/Gauls-spotted.JPG)
This is from the campaign map; which is fantastic. I wanted to highlight a couple of things that you see here in case you (like I) hadn't heard about them. First the fog of war is alive and well. We see that this Gaulish army has 3 units & a faction leader. Notice that the watchtower spotted the Gauls. I'm not sure which pass they came through. The yellow is the distance that the army will be able to maneuver this turn so Segesta and Mediolanium are vulnerable.
Also on the town labels, the numbers next to the coins are the amount of money that town made (or lost) that turn. These two are pumping out the cash. Green faces mean everyone's happy, green man means population is growing, Segesta is constructing something (yellow tools).

Gauls counter attack? (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/Gauls-counter.JPG)
Here's the map from above without the Gauls highlighted. I had just taken Mediolanium if I remember correctly. They were a little late getting there to raise the seige.
This was also a monumtentus occasion, it was the first time Ariminum had shown a profit! :2thumbsup: It wouldn't last.
Units had a "zone of control" which force other factions to stop. Hopefully that fort along the road will force them to stop. Oh yeah, that fort is built in Gaulish territory, I don't own that province; its north of the red province line. Watchtowers however need to be built in your province.

AMBUSH! well almost (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/Gauls-ambush-failed.JPG)
Its been 3 years before I got my strength up to move on the other Gaulish town Patavium; just as the Senate demanded we take it. So of we go and I walked right into that ambush. Luckily it was our uber general and Faction leader Flavius. While we "had time to prepare" what that means is your troopers are at least facing the enemy but you don't get a chance to set them up; oh and no pre-battle speech either ~D .
The terms "captains" mean that they are not lead by faction (family) members and so are 0 star leaders. Lets see 10 star vs 0 star. Oh the Brutii equites came charging from behind me and smashed into 2 warbands. I waved as the Brutii went routing off the field chased by at least one warband. Hey no skin off my nose and they took one warband away. Lannildut tried to flank but my velites - off skirmish mode and behind the hastati - really hurt them. My counterflank worked and Lannildut never made it back to the hills.
Notice just south by the bridge there are crossed swords - that's the site of the previous "impressive victories" by our man Flavius.

The next turn Flavius received notification from the Senate he had been named Consul as he started the seige of Patavium. The next season he died of natural causes - there was a popup stating that Flavius the Infantryman had died. There was much wailing and crying but my wife hugged me and I felt better. His son-in-law had just joined him with reinforcements and took over the eventual successful seige.

That's all I have right now. I got negligent in my screenshot duties. Hopefully I'll get a chance to post some more.

Thanks for taking time out of game-playing and thinking of the game-deprived folks here. And, since I missed it earlier, welcome to the Org.~

You use the Prt Scn button. The addendum says that they will be put into a folder in you installation. That doesn't see to work for me. So I do Prt Scn and paste the image into Paint, save it as a jpeg.

More screenshots, hope you like 'em

Family Tree (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/julii-son-in-law.JPG)
Here is the Julii family tree. Couple of things here. Women and children are a generic picture. I don't like this; well don't mind for the children but women should have individual pictures. This detracts from my immersion in this part and would like CA to add individual female pictures. But just for the family tree, the fact that the retinue pictures are duplicated doesn't seem to bother me. Actually let me amend that; each turncoat or slave "faction type" should have their own picture - a barbarian and carthigian slave shouldn't have same picture (but that's a really small nit).
Second, I was hoping that right clicking on a dead member would show some sort of history; maybe battles fought, offices held, where & how he died. But they're not clickable. Oh well.
Third, anyone else think its interesting that the son-in-law with no children just happens to have a hot slave as a member of the retinue? ~:joker:
Fourth, I wish there was a way to get your sons or daughters married. I've got two bachelors who've been like that for a long time now.

Brigands (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/rats-no-reinforce.JPG)
I've noticed that there are wandering bands of brigands. These brigands showed up and headed for Segesta. I had to reinforce it from a fort (which is behind the scroll.
Important point watch who you're moving! That army south of the bridge and north of the port was moved from Mediolanium to the fort to keep it around but I selected it as part of the fort's reinforcing army without looking at the green movement range. If I did I would have realized that I selected the wrong unit as it couldn't reach. I had to drop it off along the way. Which brings up another point, you can't undo moves like MTW
Notice that there aren't any reinforcements available :furious3: Your armies have to be pretty close to support; the unit on the other side of the brigands should have been close enough but I think because I was sallying out of the town, the battle area just missed it. Now if I had attacked with the one unit lead by a captain it possible that the town would have sallied out.

Preparing town assault (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/seige-massilia.JPG)
This shows the campaign map of one of the Julii youngsters preparing to seige a rebel town. I think since the settlement only has small wooden walls around it we only need to build a ram. Look we got principes! ~D
Town assault (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/rebel-assault.JPG)
Once you start the assault you get a quick flyover (I snapped it as it was panning). Notice at 9 o'clock the open space with the flag. That's the village center and the goal. You take that and hold it for 3 minutes you've won the battle.
Here we come (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/rebel-ram.JPG)
Look peasants! (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/rebel-peasants.JPG) And they've flanked a unit of principes charging hoplites. The other principes are getting ready to charge the flank of these peasants... they're starting to throw their pila.
Look no peasants! (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/rebel-hoplite.JPG) but the hoplites are fighting to the last man. Uhoh defeat is a distinct possibility...
then again... (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/rebel-celebrating.JPG)

Well I made a bone headed mistake. The Gauls had sued for peace just before this assault (which I accepted). So after the battle I sent out our young pup fresh from his victory to build a watchtower with only a token force. Unfortunately there was a large Gaulish army (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/spying.JPG)nearby...
Which brings up another important point. If your army doesn't have any movement points it cannot withdrawal from the battle. The withdrawal button is grayed out. You're stuck, make the best of it and hope you can survive (http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/family-tree.JPG).

Hello Zentuit, welcome to the Org. We do have a screenshot thread, in fact we have two: one devoted to Total War and the other devoted to everything but Total War. The one you are looking for is in the Mead Hall. Junior patrons can post there (though they cannot start topics), so that is not a problem. The link to the Total War screenshot thread is here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=26201&page=1).
Instructions for uploading screenshots can be found in the mead hall as well: Uploading pictures to the Org (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=26606).
Keep posting your screenshots, please. Gives us poor souls who live without the blessing of a powerful computer something to dream about ~D .

Som games do not store the screenshots in a folder instead they are just copied. So what you should do is hit prt screen then open a program like paint then paste adn their should be you image. Unfortuantly images are lost if you hit prt screen before pasting so you probably only have 1. Hope this helps.

p.s need more screenshots still got five days to go.

when you hit print screen your screen shot is in the windows clipboard, another print screen will overwrite it. only one thing can be in the clipboard. so when you make the screen shot, open up paint and hit ctrl-v to paste. save it as a jpeg.

i would really like to get the tga folder working. there is now one in my RTW folder but i can't seem to get anything to save there.

I don't have R:TW yet...but in the last 2 TW games, the F2 button took screenshots and stored them in the tga folder. Some folks have enhanced paint-type programs that can be configured to display .tga files. Others need a tga viewer, which we have available in our downloads section (I'll dig up a link, shortly).

EDIT: No link necessary. Top of page, next to "User CP" is "Files"; click that, takes you to files available list. TGA ripper/decompressor is in there.

Here is a LAN multiplayer battle I had.

Romans vs Carthage, a siege in a medium sized city. Normal unit sizes, 20,000 Florins. (The florin count is much higher in this game I find).
I was the Romans.

It's quite long, and not 56k friendly. The reason being is this game lasted about 50 minutes with plenty of action. All in all I got about 100 screenshots, but I managed to whittle it down to 20 or so.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/01.jpg
The Carthagian forces survey they mighty Roman army assembled before them. They take heart in the fact that while they are slightly outnumbered, they do have first rate troops.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/02.jpg
After a continual pounding against the walls and city by artillery, a unit of Elephants go on a wild rampage outside the walls, uncontrollable.
The Roman army stays well back from this erratic rampaging force.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/03.jpg
The Roman assailers begin their advance on the heavily damaged city.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/04.jpg
A unfortunate unit is hit by a flaming rock.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/05.jpg
Carthagian forces cheer as the one and only Roman battering ram is set ablaze. Unfortunately there are numerous Roman siege towers and two breaches in their walls.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/06.jpg
Roman Legions form the Testedo (sp?) formation when advancing to protect themselves from the cities defenses.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/07.jpg
The battle has been joined, Roman forces swarm through the holes in the castle defensives to meet stiff resistance.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/08.jpg
A second unit of Carthagian elephants causes havoc in the Roman ranks. A unit of Triarii looks on knowing they will have to stop this massive threat.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/09.jpg
Roman units scale the walls unopposed while the defenders are occupied below.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/10.jpg
A few hundred dead Romans and a few dead elephants later, the Elephants loose their nerve and run rampant. Roman forces scramble to get out of their path.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/11.jpg
The carnage these powerful units have caused in a matter of minutes.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/12.jpg
The battle rages on the right flank. As soon as the Romans gain ground Carthagian re-inforcements push them back.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/13.jpg
With the Elephants gone, the battle on the left flank is equally as fierce.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/14.jpg
These units stuck in the middle between the flanks adopted this formation on their own! Cool feature CA!

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/15.jpg
http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/16.jpg
The Carthagians seem to be holding the Romans off on the left flank, many Roman units had been decimated by the Elephants earlier.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/17.jpg
Trouble for the Carthagians as the Romans secure the right flank.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/18.jpg
Much to the Roman commanders irritation, these men seem more preoccupied relieving themselves on the castles wall than rushing to save their falling comrads, ignoring all orders to move.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/19.jpg
The Roman general gets involved in the battle at its most critical moment, crashing into the rear of the Carthagian defenders. They STILL hold firm however.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/20.jpg
In the end it's a volly of pilums that break the nerve of the Carthagians, sending them to rout towards the town center.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/21.jpg
The Romans march towards the center of the town knowing the battle draws to a close.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/22.jpg
The ragged and battered Carthagian defenders stand around their leader ready for a last stand.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/23.jpg
The Carthagian leader falls but their forces fight fiercly to the death.

http://www.flyingfish.co.nz/rtw/dve/24.jpg
The Romans pay a heavy price for their victory. One unit of elephants killed over 200 Romans alone.

Nice screenshots Zentuit :)

Did your watchtowers actually see things on their own? Mine didn't appear to be able too - only if I had a general or somebody out and about.

I was running a unit of cavalry down a long road with watchtowers a long its length and they ran smack into this marauding gallic warband that was 2 paces from the watchtower yet shrouded in fog ~

In this screen shot http://flyingpig.theanykey.com/~tjenkins/RTW/Gauls-spotted.JPG the Gauls where spotted by the watchtower. If memory serves, the campaign map has shaded areas and lighted areas; the shaded areas are visible by something that you control. When you throw up a watch tower you definately get more area lighted. Also there seems to be a rough line of sight system. So things behind hills or forests are not visible.
I have found nothing beats spies. they can see a long way. they still have the LOS but these guys are bionic
