I've been reading post after post concerning the unit speed being much too high (I heartily agree), so I've decided to create a little mod to rectify the situation.

It's being hosted at twcenter, and instead of repeating what I already wrote there, I will just post this link:

Any questions, suggestions - just let me know.

This is my first post at the .org (A wonderful site by the way, I've been reading these forums for over a year).. Finally, if this is the wrong place to advertise for a mod I do apologize in advance. ~

Very well, this will be a blessing for the MP community! :medievalcheers:

Could one of the EH moderators make a copy of this thread for the General forum in the R:TW Dungeon? Apollonius, you will be able to reply in that thread.

Thanks,
Duke John

Thank you Apollonius! Great work! I just tested a battle with a variety of units and it felt MUCH better especially in regards to cav being able to chase down routing infantry.

I added a new version, which is 20% faster than the original; for those of you that thought the original mod was perhaps a bit too slow. :charge:

Look towards the bottom of page 1..

So - what are people's thoughts on this? Does it make battles more enjoyable/tactical?

I've been using the mod since I first saw it and it's an improvment in my book. Makes battles more tactical in that units arent rushing around at breakneck pace and as I said it's great that you can now chase down routing infantry at a speed that more closly resembles STW/MTW.

Now we just have the separate issues of killing speed and fatigue/endurance.

While this makes the units slower initially, when they get tired+ it makes them ridiculously slow, and they look like they're all walking on treadmills.

Although I do not have RTW as yet being a Brit, from looking at the mod you can change any of the speed figures in the txt file. Appolonius already has 2 files - a "slow" and a "slightly faster" version.

Why do you not try experimenting with the figures yourself until you have a speed (and a fatigued speed) you are comfortable with, bearing in mind every terrain speed should be changed proportionally?

I can see there ending up many "speed versions" of this mod before long ~:)!

Though it would be nice if there was a 'semi official' one for mp and whatnot :)
