THat's not as bad as having your own archers kill 12 of their own unit as well as your General plus 8 of the Cav in that unit.

Have you made an investigation into that unit? I'm sure you would find plenty of suspect persons. ~D

But its not impossible, I mean a man is a man, why should a faction heir be invincible, I like how gens die like normal men, the same with kinds and heirs, step up if you ask me,
And that archer problem with shooting men in front of them started with STW, wasnt to bad in MTW, but I hear its really bad in RTW.
Yes, it's really bad. I assaulted an Iberian city and fought some cavalry in the streets. I had hastatis and principes sharing space 2 units at a time and they killed around as many of my men as the enemy. I mean, how inaccurate do you have to be to kill the guy in front of you or on your side instead of flinging it to a distance?
My favourite faction heir loss so far has been when I attacked the Carthaginians... I had flaming onagers going, and happened to nail their faction heir as he was charging into my Hastati *snicker snicker*
I sent that Onager crew to settle and live fat in the Po river valley ~:)

I forgot to mention that my units weren't in a melee - they were stationary firing on the enemy, the General had a death wish and had set himself infront of the archers.
Everyone knows you can't trust archers.

Friendly fire is terrible with missile units. Fire at will has to be turned off alot, and halt command given to get them to stop. CA needs to put a wee bit of logic into this. Right now it is wonked. Troops won't throw pila at men in front of them, but will throw 90 degrees to hit your friendly unit engaged at their side.
