View Full Version : How do I make the Senate like me?

The Brutii legions have spread death and slavery over much of modern day Greece and Turkey. The noble family now hold two of the highest Senate offices and has outexpanded both other families by a factor of 2 or 3.
So how on earth do I make the blasted Senate like me? I perform virtually every task they ask of me, but my Senate rating remains in the 6-7 range. My rating among the Plebs has been steadily increasing, but my Senate rating never moves. Do I just need to conquer more? Like maybe Rome? ~;)
The whole senate will never like you but when the people love you they want you to sack Rome. Your already probably at a point where you can march on Rome as long as you have the forces to do so. But then again you have killed your economy by massacring the commoners.

The Senate is afraid of you now.
P.S. Greetings, fellow Brutii; Isn't conquering Greece great?
:knight:
Unlesss you want to spend obscene amounts of money and time building large garrisons for your newly conquered towns and keep family members there on long term assignment then you must enslave or exterminate foreign populations to keep those settlements under control. Take note that in newly conquered cities where you do not enslave or kill much of the local population 'cultural differences' effects (the half white/half black face) always ruin your public order rating and thus adversely affect your growth and tax revenue.
Keep completing Senate assigned missions to win their support. About the only time I fail or turn them down is when they give me an unrealistic goal or force me to make war on a faction I am unprepared to fight. Build lots of Happiness boosting structures, conquer more territories and lower taxes to please the people. Throwing gladitorial games more often also boosts your popularity with the people. In my current Julii campaign (Hard difficulty) my support in the Senate is roughly 3/4 of the way to the top and most of the Senate offices are filled with my family members. However, my rating with the people is on par with the other Roman factions, at most only 3-4 points. My problem is I don't conquer enemy territories at a brisk pace and more importantly, I tax the bejesus out of my citizens... ~;)

The Senate is afraid of you now. That makes perfect sense. I'm already picking out drapes for the throne room. I'm thinking...pastels.... :crown:
So how popular can one get with the Senate, anyway? is 6-7 points the highest you can get? I mean, it says you have to take provices for the Senate to like you, but take too many and they start to fear you, so...
What's the highest you've ever gotten the Senate bar to go?

I think the Senate is kind of a "close but no cigar" situation. I had all but 2 of the Senate positions but I never really saw any benefits from this besides bragging rights. I thiknk you should be able to do something to sway the Senate in your favour, especially when 8/10 or whatever it is are your family members.

That or reap the massive financial benefits that were historically a part of a consul's life after his year in office!
