Playing the Carthaginians using Apollonius's movement 1/3 slowdown mod and littlecheese07's unlock factions mod.
The battles are not so uncontrollable and I enjoy playing the Carthaginians.
Its alot of fun trying to stop the Julii and Scipii from overunning Sardinia and Sicily.
Still a nightmare trying to stop a flanking cavalry charge in the woods. :charge:
One thing I have noticed however is the pre-battle speeches.
IIRC from the demo the pak file had faction specific versions referring to other factions.
Your general would mention the opposing faction during his speech.
However my Carthaginian general's never mention their Roman victims... err... honorable opponents.
Because these are not invasive mods I wouldn't think that they would be responsible.
One more thing...
How does the battle timer work?
I have been unable to successfully disable it but after Apollonius's mod I suddenly have more time.
I regularly check the battle timer before I start just to make sure it doesn't catch me by surprise.
Suddenly even attacking wall-less villages I have thirty+ minutes. :inquisitive:
It appears, to me at least, that the RTW engine bases the timer on number of troops and how fast they can move.
Wierd...
One more thing...
While your allied AI may not be the brightest, enemy AI can be downright nasty even on my current Medium/Medium campaigns.
Scipii Hastati and Equites in the wooded hills of Sicily are scary with a four star general. :whip:
