View Full Version : troop morale
Howdy
Churches, cathedrals and some other buildings provide a static improvement of morale. I know this affects the population of the province but does it also affect the morale of the troops produced here? If this is the case how can I check the morale of a single unit? In the unit icon there´s only information bout size and valor so ~ . Thx for any replies!!
Build identical units in different towns (1 with church, 1 without) and take them to battle. Pressing the F1 key shows unit morale as well as attack, defense, etc.

All the religious buildings improve the moral of all troops (not agents) built in those provinces. I get confused about moral/valor, but I believe that each moral point equates to one valor point. At least, my one valor vikings from Norway became 2 valor vikings after I built a church there.
Hope this makes sense - someone please correct me if I've got this wrong.

I did some digging on this question, and I discovered that the Pantheon to Mars (Brutii faction) gives +1 to troop morale. Other temples give experience or weapons and armor bonuses, but this is the only Roman temple that gives a troop morale bonus. So it stands to reason that other temples do not affect troop morale.
Actually, the rest of the temples don't affect morale per se. They affect happiness and law (public order), and some have different bonuses attached to them.
Is there a way in RTW to check troop stats in field?

Well, morale can be seen when you mouse over a unit. Experience is evident by the little banners that the units carry, I think, although I am away from the game right now and can't check it. I've seen the little banners but can't remember if they are just on the generals' units. I don't know about weapon or armor upgrades.
First of all thank you very much for your fast answers ~ !! The nice little f1-button is the key to my prob (playin MTW for almost 2 years now but didn´t know that one  ). Is it also possible to check a unit´s morale without being in-fight?

No, except that you can look up the unit morale (in the unitguide or through an editor) and add the valour times two to it. One point of valour adds two morale to the unit, but this only applies to intrinsic valour. General-added valour (one valour point per two command stars) does not add morale.
To confuse the matter even more (are you still there? ~:) ): a high command general gives a morale bonus to troops in his vicinity on the battlefield. I think this bonus equates to +1 morale per star within 50 meters and +1 morale per two stars within 100 metres, but I might be totally off about this.
