Help.

Looking forward to RTW coming out for a year and a day. We get it this Friday! Hoorah!

Just had a phone call from my wife saying she's got the day off work friday as she has to spend the entire day doing college work on my PC.

What can I do. She has to do her work but :wall:

buy her a laptop ~;)

actually, just tell her as it is, explain that you waited for it for a year, she'll understand, if not, what is more important, Rome or the wife? ~

Straight down to PC World (or your local friendly PC shop)...

Fork out a few of hundred quid on a INTEL CELERON 2.4GHz PC & 17" CRT PACKAGE kind of thing....

Take it home to setup tonight and bingo, she's got her own PC, maximum browny points for you and a free PC for RTW tomorrow.... ~:joker:

Ugh! I feel for you danimal. I just went through that this past year except in was fulltime college. I almost went the laptop route as Sjakihata suggested but she balked at the idea.

Maybe your PC is looking a bit "sick" and you need to run some RTW "stress tests" to checkout the system. She can go to the computer lab/library at college and use one of the PCs there. It will also be quieter there as she won't have to listen to you sigh and mumble obsenities all day long. ~D

I think Gregoshi's onto something there. When she goes to use the computer on Friday morning, you should be already sitting there running full virus scans, diagnostics, looking up obscure error help pages, and generally grumbling about how the computer is very sick. You can then express sympathy with her because 'you also were looking forward to using the computer today, because this fabulous game called Rome: Total War has just come out, but alas it seems that you shall have to continue your purgatorial-like wait to play it'. But at least there is a solution to the problem for one of you: she can go to a computer lab (nice and quiet like Gregoshi said)! ~:)

After she leaves, you may as well go pick up R:TW whilst waiting for the computer to fix itself, and *gasp* what luck! By the time you get back, it's all better! *smiles innocently*

You'll probably want to have worked out a bit of a story for explaining how you got the computer working again, just to be on the safe side. ~;)

Either that or the laptop option.

Serve her with divorce papers for not being supportive enough of your needs.

No?

Too extreme?

Just buy her a cheap laptop. That's what I ended up doing for the significant other. Now, I can play RTW to my hearts content and enjoy the silence and solitude of being alone with my computer...

Wife always win, resistance is futile, you have been assimilated.

Thanks all for your sympathies and suggestions.

I like the sick PC idea, very plausable, and that would allow me to send her off to the library.

Watch this sapce for further developments.

When my wife & I married, one thing explicitly stated was that we each needed our own PC. A brilliant idea on her part, as I can hear the Morrowind music coming from her study whenever I have a lull in battle.

I heartily recommend the second PC route.

After a year and a day, one more day will lengthen your wait time by 27/100ths of 1 percent.

Read the manual on Friday and keep reading up on the forums. Then you can play like a pro on the first try.

Let her do her work and afterwards take her to dinner and a movie. Hey, you might even get lucky...

Then play all day on Saturday.

Long after Rome has lost its' appeal, there will still be the wife.

Life is too short. Love the wife.
