Fix for Siege battle slowdown yet?

Has anyone come up with a solution. Siege battles with fire arrows, onagers or more than one battering ram really takes a toll on my FPS. I dont really think its my PC I have uninstalled/reinstalled drivers, and tried changing settings on my video card and in game but nothing seems to work at all. I have heard about others with comparable systems having no trouble at all and some with lesser systems having no trouble at all. Is this my error or something related with the game code?
Here are my specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
ASUS K8V SE Deluxe
ATI 9800 Pro 129
1 gig Corsair XMS

What size of units are you using?

I was using the default normal size and never saw this issue. I up them to the next one up large size and ran into this issue.

I then dial down shadows and battle map resolutions ( went from 1024 to 800 ) and that fixed my issues so I could play with large sized units.

You might want to try the resolution change on the battle map or even just switching around unit sizes till you find a happy medium.

Yeah I tried the resolution thing, it didn't help, went down to 800x600. But I have not tried the unit size yet, i'll try that when I get back from classes. But even that doesn't seem like it would be the real problem here because I have read about people with 6800 GTs dealing with the same thing, so it doesn't appear to be an ATi thing strictly. Ah well...

This is most concerning. You've got an almost identical setup to me. I'm off home now to install the game and play it for three days solid ~D I will post the performance under heavy seige a.s.a.p.

I don't experience a slow down at all and I turned all my settings up (but the unit size). I also use an ATI but mine is a Radeon 9200 SE.
Can't offer any help though, just letting you know some ATIs are fine running this.
