My faction leader caught a plague and i dun mind him dying but I don't want my faction heir to get a plague too... Is there anyway to get rid of the "plauge-bearer" status, or is it there forever?

The plague will eventually go away on its own, possibly taking your leader with it. If you can, build up public sanitation facilities where he is. It may or may not help, but it will make you feel better.

It's very important to isolate the city that has plague. Don't move any units in or out, including spies and diplomats. (The only exception to this rule is if you feel like giving an enemy city plague -- in that case, by all means move a spy from the infected city. I've done this a couple of times and it's great fun.)

Just keep the plauged city isolated, and eventually things will run their course.

As far as I can tell, infected generals never get better. I had a plague in one city which infected one of my good generals. Eventually the plague went away and the people rejoiced. My general still had the plague symbol on his info card though, so I assumed that meant he had once been exposed. However, about 10 turns later, the plague popped up in the same city with the general in it. This time I took that general out and dispatched him to the frontier to conduct raids on enemy territory until he managed to find a 'glorious' death for himself. I have not had any problems with plague since then, though the stubborn general refuses to give in to either the plague or Gaullic swords.
