Hey guys, I'v posted this along time ago but decided I should repost it, with better grammar and coherence this time.
The tactic I use on some river maps is a very effective one that can get you massive kill ratios. Many river provinces have hills and mountains also. Instead of capping off the bridge I camp on the hill. Why? Well, main reason I had was to suffer less casualties. Bridge battles are very bloody for both sides.
I like getting 50-100 losses and 1000-2000 kills. Which is exactly what I can get with this tactic. How? Thats the catch with this style. Not only do you camp on the hill, you hide 1-2 cavalry, preferable fast Yari Cav, somewhere on the opposite side of your half of the map. Like in a forest or behind a hill. LET THE ENEMY CROSS THE BRDIGE COMPLETELY. Taunt them if you have to into attacking your posistion on the hill. You'll beat them, trust me less you do something stupid and your men run. Now, when all of the enemys MELEE units have engaged yours on the hill, and that 'line' of fighting men forms, run your cavalry to the bridge.
This is a double edged sword. Now you have cavalry behind the enemy, which makes their ashigaru piss in their pants. It also drives that last stake into the morale of the enemy who is already loseing on the hill. Their men begin to run but...*GASP* they have nowhere to go, you cavalry have BLOCKED OFF the bridge. They'll keep running and your Yari cav will cut down every last one of them.
I had 80 losses and 1400 kills in one defence. My defense is my offense. I kill off the enemy numbers on defence THEN attack their weakened armys.
