RTW installed...will not run

Can somebody help me please? I installed RTW today but cannot run it. The following error appears when I try to start game

.DLL file could not be found D3D8.DLL

Have game, cannot play, cruel luck :help:

Hi The Hun, welcome to the Org. Sorry for your situation.

Have you attempted uninstall/reinstall yet? Might clear up any corrupted files copied to your hard drive. Give that a shot, and if it doesn't work, post your problem here:

Thank you for the welcome. Unfortunately yes, it was the first thing I tried but had same error message, I should have said but too busy sobbing to think straight. I will check that link, thanks again

Try reinstalling DirectX that should work. D3D8.DLL is a driver that gives support for DirectX 8. However, I think you need the lastest version of DirectX to run Rome Total War. DirectX should be on your R:TW cd. If not go here to get it.

Let me know if this helps. If you keep getting this error post your OS and what video card your using ~:)
