Hey everyone, been awhile since I was here. Apparently so since I had to reregister heh. For those that remember, there had been some discussion months ago about doing audio commentaries for battle replays of TW games. Much in the same style we've been doing them for Warcraft 3 and Unreal Tournament 2004 for the past 2 years, we've finally gone ahead and loaded some up.

What is an audio commentary? Think of NFL on the radio play-by-play meets strategy documentary. Music, intros, funny commericials etc all go into the game. You listen to the audio as you watch the battle unfold. Its extremely popular for the above mentioned games, so much so we broadcast War3 games LIVE on an internet radio station. Thousands have downloaded those audios and loved them, so we're going to give it a try with RTW. Id love to hear what you all think as www.totalwar.org is the biggest TW community I know of.

We will also be setting up a replay database, similar to the one for War3, so if you have battle replays you've saved that are good, send them to me at Emperor@1greborn.com

Here is the link to the first 2 audios, please let me know what you think. My thanks to the TW.org crew for (hopefully) allowing this thread to remain for your listening and viewing pleasure.

Hi Emperor[1G], welcome to the Org.~

And thanks for the link to your chock-full-of-good-stuff site. Those folks downloading the replay audio's note: you must have the appropriate game to run the file (e.g. R:TW for the R:TW replay audio).

I just watched it. It's pretty nice. But at the beginning, my replay was a bit slow, and your audio was actually at the finish when my timer still had 40000 (units?) to go.
But I would like if you try to get the unit names right. The reason is that in replays, you can't see the unit descriptions (at least I don't know how to see them, since this is the first Rome replay I saw ~;p). And it was Scipii, not Buti or whatever you called it ~;p.
But you do it nice, and the idea is very good. I was a bit confused at first since I thought you had to unpause as the audio begun (I think I read that at the website), but first you were explaining how to use the audio file and then had to unpause. At that point I was already well into your replay so I had to reload it... So just for everyone else... put the replay on pause at 20000, then load the audio, and only unpause when he tells you.

It was actually quite clear at the beginging when it said "pause at or about the 20,000 mark and wait for me to say unpause"

Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it. We noticed something wrong with the replay system, not sure if its a glitch or not, but my partner WAS playing as the Bucii family. On a side note, the Julii roman cohorts standing around at the end aren't Roman, those were my Carthaginians. Ive been speaking with alot of players and apparently this is rampant. Im assuming its some sort of glitch that will get fixed in the first patch.

Yeah I assumed everyone would know it was Rome, but considering the amount of players from Shogun and Medieval I should have explained better heh.

For future reference, always pause your replay at or about the 20,000 mark on the timer, and wait for the commentator to say UNPAUSE. Btw, if anyone around here wants to give audios a shot, make one up and send it over to Emperor@1Greborn.com and let us take a listen. Thanks again for allowing the thread to remain, I know some sites get kind of gittery about what they might feel is site advertisement.

Cool. No jitters here. We thrive on the input, nay, expansion of game enjoyment here. We only get nervous when actual money is involved. You (nor your site) solicits that...rather offers a game enhancement. Therefore = hearty endorsement. Best of Luck, m8.

Been there, rejected that. Our original site www.Clan1G.com was *slightly* bigger then your site is now had the option of going pay-per-view back at the height of Warcraft. After 8 years of running this clan and knowing this all to be a hobby and for fun, I rejected the offer. Now we're smaller and more intimate and not so large heh. 9,000 forum members makes for a VERY difficult moderation dilema. At any rate, glad you enjoy. If we can somehow figure a way, we are going to try to broadcast the games live as they happen over our radio station.

Yeah, I probably wasn't listening hard enough at the start ~;). I've never heard of the Bucii family before, can you play even more factions online ~. Maybe he was Brutii with blue banners? (normally Scipii have blue banners)
I did heard some other complaints in the other forum about the weird replay system, that the replays are even very different from what actually happened.
And it was nice to know other people refer to those monsters as o(w)nagers as well... Anyway, keep it up!

(I'm a bit surprised nobody else commented in this thread.. if you read this, give it a shot.. it's fun)
