View Full Version : senate missions
As the senate given you a mission say capture a city yet you can not see it on the map.?And you have to go searching all over the place to try and find it?.This is especially true when using naval ships ~

Go to the senate tab in your management menu, there is a small box detailing your current senate missions with a small magnifying glass icon, click that and it will center your map view over the designated area. no more searching :)

And when you hit that magnifying glass it reveals the map info if you have not discovered the city yet. the map info is only the size of a quarter but is enough to reveal its true location

Just find the name and look it up on the handy dandy map that comes with the game!
The Senate rarely seems to give out city capture missions, maybe it's just me. The bulk of the ones I get are blockading. Anyone else find this?

Loads of blockades for me too. Early in the Julii campaign I only had one ship and the blockade missions were coming thick and fast to widely dispersed ports. Sometimes I got there in time to keep the senate happy and sometimes not. It didn't appear to affect the stats in any noticeably bad way if I failed a mission.
Don't wanna start a thread but has anyone got a mission by the senate to go and make carthage a protectorate? i got this and i barely had enough troops as the Julli to hold on to Thapsos and Carthage, let alone hunt down the carthaginians in Spain. Is it me or is the senate trying to overextend me?

I Hate Senate missions which ask you to go to a far-away place on the map and your army is dealing with another place on the map.

They force me to be too agressive! I actually want more than 50 denarii per turn! Apollonia is a cash cow in the begininng for my Brutii, but no, they want Thermos, so bam by the end ill lose both and the people will hate me.

Any Senate missions that I feel overextend my Faction I don't do.
One of the coolest missions I ever got was to assassinate a Carthaginian General. I lost 3 assassins, one was a 6 star whose chance of success was only %25, the other two were novices who had practically no chance at all.
Never did complete that mission. If I didn't know about that spyglass button on the Senate mission page I would never have found him, he kept moving around.
For the blockade missions, I train a stack of about 6 ships early in the campaign. I send them round beating up on small Greek navies (make sure that you have at least a 2-1 numbers advantage for inexperienced flotillas) in anticipation of eventually getting a blockade mission. As they incur loses, I sail back to port and retrain them to bring them back to full strength. I'll add a new ship to the stack ocassionally, and eventually my Armada developes into a powerhouse. I seldom attack with just one ship, unless I'm trying to get rid of an enemy ship blocking a trade route and I have no choice. It's much better to concentrate your force and crush them with superior numbers.
Once my Armada has gained it's silver & gold chevrons, I can take on enemy fleets that are bigger than mine and still beat them.
