Elite

Completely by chance I came across a chapter in a book I am reading about how Elite came to be written. Bang: taken back 20 years in an instant.

I am not sure I should ask this in case the game isn't as good as I remember (hey it was the 80s) but can anyone recommend an Elite "simulator" for a windows PC? I don't mean an Elite type game I mean elite itself, as close as can be? I googled it but it was hard to see what was out there or if it was any good so I'm hoping for a recommendation.

Is it just me or is the radar display for Elite STILL the most intuitive you have ever seen?

Personally i didn't think much of the original Elite but its Sequel Frontier was the best game of its type - X2 is nice but its not a patch on the freedom you had in Frontier

one game that comes kinda close is Privateer another great game.... ah they don't make em like they used to.... in the space Genre at least

Maybe privateer but it is just as old! I really cannot think of a similar modern game.
