Don't know if this has been mentioned, but I find the speed control buttons very problematic, they often don't respond when clicked. If I'm marching my units across the map on 3x and the enemy moves, etc. the first one, two or three clicks on the speed buttons often don't "take." By then the "10 second melee" might already be over since there is 3x compression. The only solution so far (other than not using them) is to hit pause, then change speed. Part of the trouble here is that you have to hit specific spots on the buttons to get them to work. This is a UI area that needs some work.
I concur.
I always hit the "p" key and then do the mouse work. Somewhat annoying.

use ctrl + T to swap speeds, much quickers and you can leave your mouse where it's doing weork

Ctrl T isn't as responsive(nothing is in this game) and doesn't work all the time. ~

Yes, and using the control or alt commands plus a key is a bit cumbersome (slow). P for pause is faster and eliminates the chance for missing a stroke.
I'm not sure why they didn't define a whole square as the active space for the buttons, hovering over the general area could highlight the background. Right now it is only the little raised area of the control that is "active." And even when you've "got it" you sometimes don't really "get it." The slider was superior.

Ctrl T will work, if you bash it enough.

I've also noticed the speed buttons are hard to activate, and this seems to be an issue easily addressable in a patch.

'seems'
it's the word until the patch comes out
then the word will become 'should'

I've given up clicking on the buttons in realtime. Ctrl-T is unresponsive half the time too and if you get frustrated and tap it twice, it will suddenly work, pushing you to real time, then back to 3x speed. Gotta love when it happens just as the AI decides to charge your advancing force and you can't do much to react because you're watching everything at fast forward and can't get off of it (almost as if the AI knows the UI is going to do that to you...). ~:)
Hopefully something can be done. In the meantime, as much as it's jolting to the overall feel, I agree with those that say pause, then click the button normal speed button. At least that tends to work.
Same. I just use p then click. It's too hard to click it.
i have found that several of the keys are hard to get to work, including Ctrl-T, P, and unit selection. i had thought that this might be a speed issue on my mid ranged computer, but i see now that it is more wide spread.
have i mentioned how much i hate how grouped units dont drag anymore, but retain the shape from when they were grouped, but in a random orientation?

I never have any problems with the keys until I cranked up a 14,000 unit battle which made my computer chug.
The speed buttons are unresponsive, but its hardly an issue id take the game back over or devote an entire thread about it.
If you think its a bug, there is a sticky bug thread sitting at the top of the forum.
If you want CA to be aware of this, then thats probably the best place to put posts like this yes?
