the Senate began making more and more ominous overtures so I eventually said no, was outlawed, and subsequently defeated the Senate.

now what? I'm in a civil war with less than 50 provinces. is there a chance for Roman peace or will I have to fight it out to the end?

Best to conquer the others me thinks. Maybe you will get the 50 needed by doing so.

Yeah, I had the same thing. I didn’t know anything about how my standing was until I got a message saying, faction leader must commit suicide or you will be outlawed. I took over Rome and any close Romans. They are the toughest fight. Once I took over the Italian Peninsula and threw out any Roman factions they were no longer an issue. Only the Scipii remained. They held North Africa except for the Egyptian parts. Other than naval battles they never did anything else. I would go ahead and take Rome unless you want to continue your game. If you take Rome and have 50 provinces the game ends. If you don’t take Rome make sure you keep a full army or two near there and blockade everything. If not the Senate will pump out troops at a dizzying pace. Once they outlaw you there is no peace between you and the other Romans. At least not for me. I did everything. I could bribe family members but they would never take a casefire no matter what I offered

Right now it's civil war time. It's not so bad, since I have more resources than the other two. But since they're never going to settle for peace, I have the task of eliminating the other Roman factions, when I'd rather not.
